I am a Swiss guy and in NY atm and I just booked flight & hotel for tomorrow until next wednesday (night) to vegas. weeeeeeeeee.
First time doing Vegas on my own, let's see how this works out. i've been 3 times to vegas so far. first time in 2010, doing the balla thing when online was easy: spewing like crazy and staying for 4 weeks during wsop, but it was fun. last time was last august @ aria with 5 friends, awesome trip. this time i'm staying at harrah's. not really a fan of CET properties in general, but everything else was too expensive (and the flights already are ****ty and expensive) and monte carlo only offers wired internet, and well, **** that in 2015. and my mlife offers weren't really that great either.

plan is to mostly just grind cash game, maybe do some drunken degen ****, we'll see. so far i always had at least one very expensive rhino trip, let's find out if the streak continues! and i try to not really degen roulette or BJ (or at least limit it, hehe).

tourneys suck for swiss people, if you have a cash (net) over 5k, IRS ****s you because we don't have the proper tax double degree treaty. friend of mine is still trying to get back parts of his 2013 wsop ME winnings. maybe i'm still playing colossus or the phamous goliath thing, if i cash 10x buyin i'll just have to deal with it. but rationally it completely destroys my ROI-EV, sucky dailies @ aria etc are ok, because you'll never cash over 5k.

my main cash game normally is 2/5, but i'll have to take it easy this trip and probably start with 1/2 and see how i run. (i always run awesome in vegas).

i'm very into endurance sports, so we hopefully will see nearly daily runs and some fitness studio time.

having a 6.30am flight tomorrow, 10 hours away. exciting! already three beers in, time for dinner and packing and some sleep. shoe pics will follow of course. i'll try to do a somewhat live-report, but i don't really expect to succeed. history shows it's difficult

i'm very open to meeting anyone and anything, it's part of the reason of doing this TR. so if you want to meet up, let me know.

shoes all lined up ready to get to vegas:

daily shoes, pool shoes, clubbing shoes, running shoes

i think they look less ****ty in reality than in the pic, but who knows. hehe

Now that is my kind of comedy!

I would just ask for a room as far away from the Carnival Court side of the hotel as possible. They blast garage band music until ~4:00AM every night.

Bad timing on your schedule. You're paying the penalty of coming in on Colossal weekend, but not going to play it. Would've been cheaper to come in on Sunday.

800$ incl fees & tax for five nights, so 160 per night.

i know. but it was still the best possible solution considering all circumstances (i think). so it'll just have to do. cash games will be good anyway, hehe.

damn, it's 2.45am EST and i'm wide awake. i blame jetlag. or pre-vegas-jitters. at least i could update the thread. trying to sleep for another 1.5 hours, then already time for the airport.

Forget about sleep, on way to airport.

I had no tr offers (I also have zero recorded action there) and nothing (much) cheaper was available publicly. Or at least I couldn't find it a day in advance. Mlife offered Monte Carlo for 760 incl everything, that was the alternative. Well well, the difference to a cheap week is less than a stack, time to run good

Those guys are not up to speed on room prices for this weekend. Prices have been very high for a good two months.

Leaving DFW in a few minutes. Seems I lucked out and got twice an empty row for myself... Boarding not yet done, let's see if I just jinxed it. 3 more hours flying, hopefully a little more sleep (I suck @ sleeping on planes)

Not always..I finished 4th in an Aria 1pm one in early May, and 1st paid a shade over $5,000. That included a $565 WPT ticket, so not sure how that works for taxes..

True that!

This year prices seem to be much higher then June 2014, especially on the weekends.

Staying at cheapass Paris next weekend for $109/night..pretty sure last year it was about half of that..

just realised that i have free gogoinflight wifi because i purchased a chromebook last week. seems they have a deal and i got 12 free passes. speed is very slow. but fast enough to write an update.
the jinx did its thing, of course the last two people that boarded got the other 2 seats on the left and right of me. but no biggie.

room probably won't be ready before 4pm. so i'll leave my baggage there and head for the next 2/5 game. probably venetian to play some. then try to sleep some more and get in a good friday night session (or start drinking, hehe)

colossus already sold out flights A, B & C. who knows if D will be still available if i'm there. still not sure if i want to play it or not. late wave definitely no option for me. heavily tending towards a pass.

lol, already a 35 people waiting list for 2/5 @ wsop.

update: flight D just sold out as well (besides late wave), crazy.

Just don't ask for a pet friendly room.

I never get tired of seeing that sign, especially in person. Run well and don't be afraid to wear that imgur app out.

Down to 450, Opened AJs in CO, all 3 behind me call. AA9r flop. I check flop, bet K turn small, only btn calls, and Q rainbow river biggish, call again. Mhig. Small chance villain overlooked the chop.
Utg, goodish guy, makes it 20, I flat co-1, co calls, rest folds. Flop 556hh (I have no h), utg cbets 35, I make it 85, utg calls. Turn ace bringing 2nd fd. Utg checks, I check behind after quite some deliberation. River 7h, I make it 135, villain folds after lengthy tank. Up to 740. Interesting options on all streets.
Got away super cheap. Utg+2 limps AK, I make it 20 with qq in bb. Flop AAx, check check, turn x, check check, river K, I check call 20. Sometimes I lead turn, but felt against villain only one street of value available.

775 atm
