I'm a total noob when it comes to live poker, but I'm just wondering, when you're playing at a poker table in Vegas do they provide you free drinks, even like soda? And how much should you tip the waitress if you're playing a low limit - like 1/2? Thanks.

Anything from $1 - $5 for 1 - 2 drinks, depending on who you ask is fine.

Okay, well I'm on a tight budget, so it would probably make more sense if you have to tip $1 at the least to bring a bag and have a couple liters in there because their a buck a piece anyways. And is it corny to bring a backpack to a poker table?

Hang on. Are you suggesting you bring a litre bottle of Coke or whatever in a backpack and top up your glass at the poker table rather than just pay the $1 to the server..........asking for people to openly laugh in your face at the table if so.

........I also highly doubt you can get anything for a $1 in a Vegas Casino these days if you are paying. A drink at the bar starts at US$10..............

You get free drinks including soda, coffee, water, beer, wine & liquor. Some places you can get higher end stuff than others. Some even have espresso coffee drinks and fruit smoothies. Tipping a buck is fine. If you are cheap and just want water, you can probably get them to bring you two at a time. You don't "have" to tip, but many will think you are a cheap db if you don't. I don't think there is a rule against bringing your own water, you may look cheap, but less of a db than stiffing the waitresses.

well I'm not going there to entertain myself, get drunk, and find some tail i am going to make some money at the poker table. but if it's that big of a deal i'll just get drinks there and tip $1

You could also just drink water out of the sink in the men's room. Or play at Bellagio, they've got a lake out front.

I'm no Joe Navarro, but bringing a rucksack full of soft drinks to the table might be a live tell that you are scared money.

if you really are going on tight over a few bucks for drinks, i really dont think vegas is a good place for you.

Ok here is something I do.

At my local card room (I play around 30 hours a week) I order 3 bottles of water at once and a coffee I give them a buck each time, in a 6 hour session I will probably do this 4 or 5 times.

The servers seem very happy with this, they come to me ask me if I need my "usual" every so often, and its great. I've never seen another person doing this, not that I really take much notice of other peoples orders.

It works well for me and everyones happy. Might not work so well with fizzy drinks and smoothies though I guess haaha p.s. Yeah where do they serve free smoothies ??

Bellagio makes a very good strawberry julius which is kind of like a smoothie. I usually also order a water with my regular alcoholic beverage for convenience.

Just tip a buck every other time if that's what you gotta do. Nobody is really going to care and the waitress won't give you any less service because she's servicing the whole poker room.
