Are the tips pooled? If so ,I'm probably just tipping a red bird in this instance, maybe a green if it's a heavy-set female with a cute face that I think I have a chance with. If the chips aren't pooled, I'm probably throwing a green at the dealer and colouring up.

I find it hard to tip in a game where you are always a looser.

If you're looser in this situation I would assume you had money and are just having fun, or else you wouldn't be gambling anyway right. If you're tighter well just don't gamble idk. So go ahead and tip a little.

Meh I just won 5k Meh now I'm going to stare everyone down Meh, what tip Meh color me up Meh.

The dealers doing there job, you are gambling, if you don't have the money to lose don't gamble. You're playing a mathematically proven game where you're not going to win in the long run, so what's a couple hundred to you off 5k if you're gambling.
Is anybody in here posting not to tip or tip the smallest denomination chip the casino can produce just frantic and pacing back and forth thinking I have to get back to the casino and gamble, I have to pay my mortgage I mean wtf if that's true or your thinking... don't gamble.

if you win a $5k pot playing $5/$10 NL what's a couple hundred to you? fuq, just give the dealer half the pot. it's found money anyway.

they're doing their job for their and the casino's standpoint. however they're coaxing you into making an even worse gamble than you were making in the first place in the hopes you hit gin and tip them more. **** that.

a couple hundred might not be **** to me but i'm not just gonna give it to someone who is basically trying to screw me because i got lucky.

to each their own, congrats on the win.

good point in the 5/10 nl advice the dealer didn't coax you into making an awful bet before you won 5k

I assume they pool tips on that shift; so if we tip this dealer $500, he is probably going to see around $5-20 of that? And now we are tipping a bunch of unknown dealers just for the heck of it. Seems odd to me, I dunno.

I never tip in any game on how much i win. I only tip on the service i receive. I have played in games where i lose and i still tip the dealer at the end of their down if they provided good service. On the flip side i have had dealers that i won big during their down, but i didn't tip them because their service sucked or they just weren't a good dealer. I have never felt a dealer deserves anything based on me winning, but rather on the service they provide. So the % of what i win is never a factor for me.

From the sounds of it op had a good dealer, there was probably fun banter drinking and just an overall good ambiance and then he hit a sucker bet jackpot.

This is probably the most valid reason not to tip, I think a 200 - 250 dollar tip here is fine though. This a part of the dealers wage, I know I know if they don't like the wage find a different job etc...
On a busy night at any local casino there are around 50 dealers on the floor I have no idea how many on the strip. So I dunno either
These threads are fun

You tip a waiter 18% and you want to give this guy a measly 10%, after he was the one who got you to place the bet in the first place??? Cheapskate alert! That dealer should get not less than $1500, more if they were extra nice or entertaining.

I guarantee after giving him only $500, he was talking bad about you behind your back... probably spit on you as you were walking away, too.

Personally I'd tip $5 or $10. I am not in the business of giving away percentage-based tips on my gambling wins. Its $1 for regular, $2 for huge, maybe a couple bucks more if you're easy on the eyes because I'm a sucker. But then I don't play table games, so maybe my poker tipping standards really go against the norm here, I don't know.

Op, I would recommend giving the dealer no more than $500. But I'm a part of the industry. I'm biased. That's probably on the high side. I think $300-500 is sufficient.
