Made it.

The flight was uneventful, and got in 20 minutes early, so that was some early run-good. I had posted up that I was planning on staying at the Tuscany, but at the last minute I got a way-cheap deal at...a different place via booking.com so I decided to try it. I'm alone for this trip, so what the hell? It's Silver Seven's, about 2 blocks behind Bally's. I got 9 nights for about $275 including tax and a waived 'resort fee' so I couldn't resist.

I pulled up to the hotel entrance, and was immediately regretting my ridiculous nitty decision. No auto doors meant just getting my big bag and my golf travel case through the doors was incredibly irritating. Then I get to the hotel desk, and they don't have my reservation. The young lady at the desk was very nice, but she needed a supervisor to take care of my situation, so by the time I got straightened out I'd been at the desk for about 50 minutes.

I schlub my bags through more manual doors, take the tiny, smelly elevator to 2, and trudge to my room...except there is a 'do not disturb' sign on the door. Obv I try the key anyway, and no go.

More trudging, more jerking around, and I get moved to a single king room on the first floor. A little more trudging, and what do you know, the key works. I open the door, and amazingly, I'm looking at a nicely modern looking medium sized room, with a decent sized flat screen on the wall, and in general, a perfectly good room. I admit I was quite surprised that is wasn't terrible.

At this point I hadn't eaten in about 10 hours, so the first thing I did was order some egg rolls and teriyaki chicken from room service. With 2 sodas, tax, and tip, it was $28. And again, what a surprise- it was perfectly good food! Sorry I didn't get any pics, but I was starving and had a huge headache. Was it fine dining? Of course not. But it was well-prepared, still hot when it got to me, and more than acceptable for the price. Maybe this isn't going to be so bad after all.

Ok, so it's 8:30 local time, and after working all night last night then sleeping about 2 hours before heading to the airport, I think it's nap time. I'll be getting up later and heading out for a sesh...not sure where to / what game yet.

I just woke up from a nice nap in what turned out to be a very comfortable bed. Once I got past the initial hassles, this place turned out to be a perfectly nit-tastic spot. I"m pretty sure it will also mark a return to the Tuscany on future trips, because the huge suite-esque rooms there are very relaxing to hang out in, but this will do for sure.

I'm headed to MGM, a room somehow I've never managed to make it to ever before, and play some 2-5. If anyone wants to say hi, I'm the old fat guy in the beater Red Sox shirt.

Nice to hear the old Terrible's doesn't have such terrible rooms. The doors and the hassle were the height of "you get what you pay for" now go pay for this trip with MGM 2-5 manies

The MGM room used to be one of the best with great action. It was moved and it now feels like you're playing in a large closet. So you are not really checking out a room that many once thought was one of the better ones in Vegas. It's worth a look but if it sucks the Aria and PH aren't too far away.

Playing 1/2 waiting for a 2/5 seat. My 6th hand is a flopped set over set my 88 v. V'S QQ. Somehow managed not to go broke.

Ya you're right about that...room-wise this is like where poker games go to die. I haven't gotten into the 2/5 yet...we'll see how it is.

Never got in the 2/5. Left stuck 400 and went to Bally's for a Nosh sub and some 1/2. Am +$525 so good for the sesh so far and nice to get unstuck on the night. Im gonna quit soon and sleep, and prob play the Aria daily at 7 tonight.

Too bad about the Nosh sub.

Why too bad about the sub? Nosh is my favorite sandwich in Vegas...good stuff.

Anyway, I posted too soon re: being up at Bally's. I got broke on 2 hands in the same orbit. First one I raised Ah10d OTB into a 4 way limped pot, and had 2 callers. Flop came KQJhhh...pretty good flop for my hand. Sadly, it's a better flop for 67hh and I don't improve after gii on the flop for about 1/2 my stack. A few hands later my flopped set of jacks got ran down by AKcc on a Jc10h5c flop when he turned broadway and rivered the clubs. I went to bed.

I think I played well at Bally's but if I'm being honest, not so much at MGM. Playing 1/2 in a casino demands a very different approach than playing the much deeper and gamblier (is that a word?) home games I frequent in Nashville, and I need to adjust better. Today is another day...

Today's plan is to head out to do a couple errands, then hit Aria for the 7pm daily, and cash after. Hopefully I can come good, as I really want to play 5/10 at the B just for the hell of it, but I have a steadfast no-moving-up-when-stuck rule that I won't break. Last trip that meant a whole trip of 1-2. I am confident that won't be the case this time around.

i played aria 7pm last night, gii on flush draw flop three way action trying to triple up (thought i 'might' have fold equity at the time...) anyways no diamond so busto

Am over 4k now. Still 40 left though...long way to go

3rd break i have about 65k with 15 left. I think the $$ starts at 9th. I dont care much about cashing low as all the money is in the top 3 of course. Its about 3k to win.

Time to ratchet it up a notch.
