Cheap WSOP accomodations at the El Cortez

(copy and pasted from another website, that has reliable deals)

Las Vegas. Must be 4 consecutive nights. June 1 through August 7 (being the last day to check-out).

Rate good ANY Monday check-in and Friday check-out and MOST Sunday check-ins and Thursday check-outs during that period.

Rate is $20.28 per night then take $75 off with the coupon code 4ODWR75 (O is a letter not number). Total $14.56 for 4 nights. Vintage rooms. 1 queen bed. Smoking. 1 or 2 people.

Be sure to SELECT the FREE $50 Restaurant.com certificate on the "Add Attractions and Services" page after selecting room type and login. You MUST select it. It isn't automatic but it shows that it is free on that page. Based on the current 70% off sale on Restaurant.com, the $50 certificate has a current value of $6 (maybe $4 if they go 80% off this month). They can be used nationwide, not just Vegas. You can break them into 2 - $25 certificates and they do normally require a minimum purchase (mostly $25 off $35 restaurant check). I use them all the time.

Here are the Tripadvisor reviews http://las-vegas-hotels.tripadvisor....as_Nevada.html . I know a number on FT have stayed at this hotel so you can advise others best if this is a decent place.

they also have slot machines that pay you in quarters (i think). so basically since they are an awful casino with no business, their angle is to bring in people who want to reminisce about their visits to vegas 40 years ago. having never been there i don't know if they have updated the place in the last 40 years, its a tossup really

Re: Cheap WSOP accomodations at the El Cortez

I stayed there last year and it was just fine. Not the Bellagio or Wynn of course, but clean and well.......fine!!!!. I just checked for my Dad, who likes downtown, and the Pavillion Room with 2 Queen beds for July 12-July 16 was a total of..........$12.96!!!!! That's for all 4 nights with taxes and fees. That breaks down to less than $3.25 a night & split 2 ways they are almost paying you to stay there!!!!!!

Vintage Rooms are small, clean rooms with no view. Ok if you are a smoker. They are old-downtown style layout, meaning that the corridors form a square. I've stayed there a number of times, some of the rooms are a bit noisy. Pavilion rooms are not any better, but they have some no smoking. The best rooms at the Cortez are the Tower Rooms which are nice. They also have some new suites I think, but I have never stayed in these.

El Cortez is actually a nice property IMO. Downtown is nice IMO, but it is a different experience than the Strip. Do a little research to be sure it is what you want.

Rent a copy of "Diamonds Are Forever".

To heck with the El Cortez. You can apply the same coupon to most other Vegas properties...at Flamingo you get the fourth night free with a three-night stay so you can get this same deal there Monday through Friday for $57 total!

old school rooms from back in the Bugsy Siegel days but renovated. Its kind of an interesting feeling to stay in one of those rooms and wonder how many mob murders took place in the specific room.

The El Cortez is a pretty solid place to stay. The vintage rooms are the ones right above the casino. As far as I know there are no elevators to get to those rooms. I stayed there in 2006 for 17 nights at $15/night. Get the weekly/monthly bus pass.
