Maybe, but MGM was clear about it up front: free parking for locals until end of year. Caesars just says free for locals.

Some people said Caesars wouldn't charge at all. They said Caesars should put up signs advertising free parking. Instead, Caesars waited to see how MGM would do and then didn't waste any time in charging.

Seems like a smart move IMO to see how charging locals works for MGM before Caesars does it too.

Hard to see them passing up a chance to make more money from locals in the future if it works for MGM.

Its never full like ever. They even recently converted the top floor guest parking to expand employee parking thats how non full the garage gets. I work at encore and see the garage avg. 4 times a week.

FYI I can verify to anyone that might be wondering, that it is definitely aggravating to pass by empty parking spaces to go to the end of the aisle with green lights overhead, only to find those parking spaces occupied.

At Ballys, don't trust the green lights on the perimeter of the garage.

Is this parking fees apply to all Caesars Properties or only restricted to strip or premium properties. To be specific will Rio charges for vellet and or sell park ?
Is there link to check on official Caesars website ?
Thx

Rio will be free for the foreseeable future. The parking fee primarily targets tourists and they are on strip more than off strip. It is tough for Rio to compete with locals casinos by charging for parking.

Besides, Rio has too much outdoor parking that would be too hard to control.

MGM has decided to up their parking prices again lol, this is getting absurd.

Wow. It was going to happen though. I was just curious when it would happen. It won't be long before self parking is $20.

Edit: Wow valet going up to a max of $25.

People might start to skip their hourly smoke break to leave and re-enter the parking garage instead. Or they start smoking in the car while re-parking..

In before Caesars raises their fees to keep garages from being overcrowded because people are avoiding the higher MGM fees.

Higher parking rates? YAY! An even more "enhanced" parking "experience".

Anyone else notice that in the first full quarter since MGM's pay for parking policy went into effect, they had an earnings miss. They may be being penny wise and pound foolish here.

I know they don't care about the locals, but I bet this is pissing off a lot of LA drive in customers.

^ Seriously. I think they forgot So Cal gives them a decent amount of business, and drives in. And that there are a couple of Indian hotel casino resorts an hour and a half away from LA that have the games Vegas has. I know they don't care about poker players, but they should care about the many So Cal customers who play the other games. They should at least validate parking for certain slots/table games play. Aren't those games what helped build their casinos?

They don't want to validate. They want the money from parking fees.

What percentage would you estimate paid parking is of MGM's EBIDTA?

I parked at the newly gated Caesars Palace parking garage for the first time today. NV ID swipe for in and out. No real line to speak of either coming or going.

This was the emptiest I have ever seen the garage. I usually just park on floor 6 or 7. Today I saw tons of space on 4 and 5 as I ramped upward, and when I got to floor 6 there were only about 5% of the usual number of cars.

Now this could just be because the employees can no longer get away with parking in the regular lot, but I would guess that guests also turned away and went elsewhere.

Most people are oblivious that Vegas charges for parking until they arrive. It certainly might play into their return trips, but as many have told me... 18 dollar isn't that big of a deal relative to other hotels.

Vegas is much more than gambling these days. I would think most of those degens are probably already gambling at those Indian casinos anyways. With this initiative Vegas is cutting out the cheapskates and getting an additional revenue stream from everyone else.

Been to caesars twice the past week and both times I've never seen the parking garage that empty. These were pretty peak times too like 6 and 11 pm.

Yep. My parking experience has certainly been enhanced since it's free for me and I can park on a lower floor more readily. So far it hasn't created big bottlenecks coming and going.

However, if it starts impacting poker game numbers and quality, then I would rather it hadn't happened at all.

Weird. Wonder if that means all those people parked somewhere else or turned around and went home.

Did the casino seem less busy? The usual density of that garage should result in at least a few thousand people.

PH and LINQ seemed less busy to me, especially for a Friday night. But that could also be because there was nothing big going on (at least that I was aware of anyway). Haven't noticed anything unusual at Caesars yet but also don't park there.

March was spring break plus NCAA and this is the first weekend after that major event so it is obviously quieter.

Did PHo start charging yet? IMO it's stupid for them to charge. I can imagine people going there just for Miracle Mile shopping and not caring about gambling. Same with Forum Shops and da club in Caesars. It's easy for shoppers to choose to shop somewhere else. I bet retail shops will suffer the most because of this crap.
