You've run good in the lv airport rental center. I haven't. The things you've described have all happened to me there - and elsewhere.

It should be a crime to charge for parking at Flamingo's lot.

I use the same thing, but with Budget fast break. Haven't been to a counter in years. At least for me, their rates are cheaper than Hertz and Enterprise.

I have used Budget's "FastBreak", National's "Emerald Club", and Alamo has a bypass the counter link on their website. Never had a problem in the rental center with any of them. Rented from Advantage, and from EZ, and had to wait in long lines and listen to all the upcharge nonsense. My take, stick with the major players, and book early, look for coupons, Entertainment Book great for free weekend day coupons, and re-check pricing often before your trip.

It's a $20 upcharge for the spaces that are not underneath the fracking zone.

Alamo/National has a nice model where you just rent from a class of car and can pick any car in the lot in that class. It saves a ton of time at the counter where Ernie and Gertrude can't decide between the white Camry or the beige Altima.

The Vegas airport facility also has kiosks for Alamo where you just walk up, swipe DL and credit card and off you go without talking to a human.

Also, This is the year 2017 and there have to be what, over 1 million, options of cities in the world to vacation at - No one is forcing consumers to stay at a certain destination/hotel.

As many have stated, the strip properties aren't focusing on locals in terms of gamblers/high end food/club revenue. Now they probably see parking as a way to get some $ from locals.

And as for vacationers... 5 night stay, Uber, Lyft, Cabs, etc. no parking, so add $40 x 5 nights resort fees =$200. Come on, thats peanuts if you are on a vacation within your means...

The key things I've noticed for the years I've followed the forums here is:

Many people are not living/vacationing within their means...
well this nonsense way of thinking is something they're banking on

That entire post was just a humble brag for how rich you are and how little 200$ means to you.

I met a couple from Germany at the Cosmo a while back who were gambling at the machines. The cocktail waitress hadn't been around in awhile, so he went to the bar and ordered two rum and cokes...$51.

I asked him if he paid it, and he said yes, "I felt obligated."

Whenever I used to go to the MGM I would park at the Tropicana and walk over the bridge. This was much closer than using the MGM parking garage, which is so far away you feel like you're in another country. And now you have to pay for the privilege to park in Outer Mongolia?

The only reason I would rent a car in Las Vegas is if I planned to go somewhere like, Red Rock Canyon, Mt Charleston, Hoover Dam, etc. otherwise I don't think it's worth the hassle and this was even before you had to pay for parking.

I've seen signs all over town at the entrances to the casinos listing the valet parking fees--and they're not cheap. If you want to casino hop, it's much cheaper and quicker to just hop in a cab. There is usually a long line of cabs at each casino now due to the fact that Uber has taken away so much business. You can go up and down the strip for around $7-12 in a taxi, depending on the traffic.

The monorail is a joke, and not worth the trouble to get around. Should never have been built.

Prices for everything on the strip have skyrocketed. I don't know where the kids get all this money they have to dish out for these nightclubs, and it's so loud in them you can't even have a conversation, not to mention the smoke.

And the kids do gamble. Not all of them, and maybe not as much, but they do gamble. It's the business people and conventioneers that don't gamble as much. If they weren't being compensated for their expenses, I don't think a lot of them would even attend.

And now if I want to go to the strip to play poker I have to pay?

Not happening.

Yeah, that monorail was a huge waste of cash. Slow as heck with pick-up/drop-off locations like a mile away from the Casinos. I used it once soon after it opened and that was enough for me, never used it since in over 30+ visits to Vegas.

Might be a stupid question, but what was he supposed to do?

He went to a bar in a hotel, ordered drinks and was asked to pay for it. Sounds pretty standard so far? $51 is pretty expensive, but not totally out of line with what you pay at other 5 star resorts. Last time I went to the bar next to the Bellagio sports book, which was at least 6-7 years ago, two long drinks were $40 including tax and tip.

Comped drinks are for people while they gamble. If you walk up to the bar, tip the guy $10 and tell him you've been waiting for ages to get a comped drink, he might be willing to help you out. Otherwise he will assume you are not gambling right now and charge you the regular bar price for your drinks.

I stay at Cosmo almost every time I go back to Vegas, including twice last year (Feb. & July), and those prices aren't anywhere close to reality for regular drinks. I've ordered from several of the bars there and the usual cost for a rail drink is in the $15 range.

So are there any properties on the strip that do not charge for parking? One of my March Madness crew is not staying on Strip (he's camping nightly out at Red Rocks. Don't ask.) Pretty sure he's unaware that he'll be charged for parking every day that he comes to the strip. Do the properties waive the fee for higher level loyalty cards? We have a mix of Platinum/Diamond CET and Pearl/Gold MGM cards so if they waive for those we can just give him our extra cards.

One of the crew decides he's not going to stay with the rest of the crew, and you guys still want to spare him from paid parking?

You guys are really good friends.

Or you have a stake in the porno he's shooting?

Ha. He's a weird surfer artist and I believe he's looking forward to experiencing the dichotomy of days in a fake, adrenaline filled man made creation and nights in the serenity of nature. Some spiritual journey, spirit animal type stuff. Budget's not really an issue for him, but he's not a casino regular and if we can save him a few bucks happy to do it for him.

Give him a high loyalty card for MGM, don't know about Caesars.

Is there an aquifer big enough that he can ride in on or does he just paddle against the stream of the raw sewage line?

I'm having a hard time believing $51 for two rum and cokes, unless he went top shelf with the rum (which would be stupid when mixing with coke, but whatever). I say all this knowing it was Caesars and knowing that they are the worst, and that I once paid $14 for a ****ty gin off a bar gun into a plastic cup there.

If it connected to the airport I would use it almost every trip, but the current route is useless.
