Ouch, $40 a night with taxes, be sure to take advantage of free local phone calls.

Of course, parking will quickly rise to that level.

$40 a night but they aren't trying to use the fees to make money. It's amazing to me that people believe that. I guess the parking fees aren't there to help them make money either and it's really all about them trying to enhance the parking experience for their customers.

FWIW I don't have a problem with you doing that in itself, if you can save money go for it. What I have a problem with is your hypocritical stance of denouncing the casino for being deceitful but being willing to be deceitful yourself. Either it's ok to be deceitful for monetary reasons or it isn't, make up your mind.

It's not purely the money.
When someone tries to **** you it's fine to **** them back
I'm extremely honest and ethical with most people and businesses
I've told businesses they undercharged me for something.or went back to a store not relaziing something didn't get rung up for whatever reason.

As mentioned I'll always return wallets ,correct people at the cage for giving me too much money etc

In a poker game I've corrected people for putting in too much in the pot against me when making a call and twice even pointed out someone had me beat when they tables their hand against me but thought they lost (both times in PLO where they had top 2 or a set that was no good but made runner runner straight without realizing) one of which was a pot of almost 6000 dollars.

However there are a few players I've played against the always trying to shoot angles and are just scumbags on life .If one of those ass clowns puts in too much against me or tables the best hand and doesn't realize and nobody else does either then too bad for them.if that makes me unethical so be it.i believe you should treat people (and businesses) with respect until they do otherwise to you.

I find it ridiculous that they charge a $40 resort fee but it somehow doesn't include parking. So you get free local calls (that no one uses), gym access (that most people don't use to be honest), and wifi for 2 devices. So it's $40 for wifi PER DAY. It's up to 2 devices so $20 PER DAY per device if you maximize your value.

But, parking isn't included in the "resort" fee and neither is the spa which seems like a "resort"-like amenity, doesn't it?

I actually agree. Like I said I don't have much problem with you doing that. I just think that if you do choose to go that route then you lose any moral high ground and can't expect your complaints about it to be taken seriously. If someone pokes me, I'm gonna poke back, but then I can't complain that they poked me because I just did it too. JMO of course.

I'm never gonna "poke" someone first so to speak

Speaking of Spas, every time I stay at Aria the price goes up while the amenities go away like free juice and bananas.

The parking not being included in resort fees for guests who ARE STAYING at the hotel still blows my mind.

Most hotels that charge for parking and have a resort fees outside of LV never include parking. Hotel I'm staying at this weekend has 35 dollar valet and discounted self parking at 30 dollars.

in other cities parking is a hot commodity. vegas is great at pretending so they are pretending parking spots are in high demand and must be charged for.

Vegas is somewhere in the middle of the two main reasons to charge for parking.

The one you listed that applies to cities where parking space could be used for other revenue-generating things. The other reason is to charge people who want to reach their destination in a fast, convenient and otherwise cheap way. That applies not only to obvious things like airports but also to NFL stadiums or Disney World. Personally, I think charging for parking in Vegas is ridiculous, but not more than having to pay $20-40 a day to park outside of Disney World where every single parking guest is also a theme park guest at ~$100 ticket/day.

The concept here is called elasticity, the willingness of people to use an alternative. There's a lot of land in Vegas and the parking lots are not full, both true, but if the people who are parking are unwilling to park elsewhere, the demand is inelastic.

Most major cities have satellite parking facilities which are cheaper but less convenient, and places like Disneyworld have special shuttles from their preferred accomodations which basically amount to being more expensive to be more convenient. Both take advantage of elasticity (or lack thereof) - people hauling luggage or young kids are more inelastic than light travelers or people without kids.

Sounds like the cost of renting cars in Vegas has gone up significantly in the last year.

Rented from fox through car rentals.com for less than 20 a day net less than a month ago.

Nothing like taking two different shuttles then waiting in an hour long line to rent a car.

I think he's saying that the cost of renting a car now means you have to pay for parking too, making it more expensive

I seem to be an anomaly on the boards about parking fees and resort fees.

As an owner of multiple businesses I get what they are doing. If you can increase your yield per head by (random number here) 10%, and you lose 4% guests, you still come out ahead. Also, This is the year 2017 and there have to be what, over 1 million, options of cities in the world to vacation at - No one is forcing consumers to stay at a certain destination/hotel.

As many have stated, the strip properties aren't focusing on locals in terms of gamblers/high end food/club revenue. Now they probably see parking as a way to get some $ from locals.

And as for vacationers... 5 night stay, Uber, Lyft, Cabs, etc. no parking, so add $40 x 5 nights resort fees =$200. Come on, thats peanuts if you are on a vacation within your means...

The key things I've noticed for the years I've followed the forums here is:

Many people are not living/vacationing within their means...

A couple years ago I choose Fox because the daily rental was 2 dollars cheaper than anywhere else. I had to take two shuttles than stand in a long line with 2 to 3 counter workers (they kept going into the back for some reason) for over an hour. Even then it wouldn't have been that bad except they took a full 15 to 20 minutes with each person because they spend 10 minutes trying to upsell you into a more expensive car and sell you a bunch of unnecessarily crap like gps and gas. Also, because it is the cheapest place you are waiting in line with not exactly the best members of society. I finally got to my hotel 4 hours after I deboarded my plane. The worst with any of the other rental car places was 1.5 hours.

Im Sorry, but some things just arn't worth saving a few bucks per day.

Except for the double shuttles, everything you mentioned could just as easily happen at Avis, Hertz, etc.

Never had anything close to as bad of experience at any rental place inside the rentacar center. And the experience that I described happened two out of the three times I did Fox, that is why stopped using them. Just not worth the hassle.

Once you sign up for their "Gold Club" account with Hertz and book online you do not need to stop at the counter or even talk to anyone. Merely look for your name on the board to find your stall number.

I tired of the lines and upsell hawks at the discount chains years ago.
