WSOP 2018 Satellites in Vegas - how much to spend? WSOP 2018 Satellites in Vegas - how much to spend?

So I am considering traveling to vegas for some Single Table WSOP sats. (Online it seems only WPN is running WSOP games) What is the general rule for how much to spend on sats before buying into the event? 10%? 20%?

Lets say I want to play in the 10k main event. There are $135 ST games and the winner receives (I believe) two $500 tourney chips. Even if I ran perfect, I am in for $1350 for 10 events to qualify for the Main.

This will be my first ever world series. Would I be better of qualifying and shooting for the smaller $1500 Buyin bracelet events?

Any advice would be helpful.

If you win a couple smaller sattys use the chips to buy in the bigger ones. play some $525s.

If it's your first WSOP, and you don't have unlimited funds, I would recommend a $1500 event. The satellites can be fun but also they tend to be fast with smaller chip stacks. If you buy into a $1500 event (or $1000) you will have long levels and decent chip stacks which could result in a fair amount of play--you will get the experience, maybe cash, and even if you don't cash, you will be better situated for the next time you enter.

Without knowing your budget it's hard to give more advice. I don't recommend doing the Colossus though, if that's what you're leaning towards, I would recommend satellites over that event.

Another Satellite path to consider wisem2540 might be the Satellites running Online on WSOP.com. In 2 days (May 1st) the NJ/NV/DE state merge goes into effect, putting all WSOP.com players from those 3 states together in one player pool.

What kind of effect that will have on online WSOP satellites... idk, but I'd have to think it's going to make them much juicier.

Of course you have to be inside NJ/NV/DE to be able to play them, but just something to consider.

play the monster stack or Milly maker IMO, I played monster stack few yrs ago, my only bracelet event I ever played, ran hot at PLO cash first week of hols so $1.5k was my profit, wouldn't risk $1.35k trying satty to main, best satty I heard about is the last $1k before the main although soft play/ collusion suppose be rampant near bubble!

There is so many nice places all around the globe beside of USA to play poker these days. Plus for Canadian, It's not worth waiting for taxes and everything.

Anyway, but to spend, hard to say. Budget is the main thing.
