It looks like the booths are going up at Caesars Palace, Harrahs, and Cromwell. Internally Caesars Palace said that paid parking will begin today but I was at a few of the garages this weekend and they don't look too ready.

Harrah's has the little red/green lights up already.

Was at Caesars Saturday. Didn't look like it was close to being ready.

When I said "side" I meant the Bally's side of the parking garage.

I thought that area near the sportsbook was employees only and they tow you off without a sticker or some such thing.

I thought they had only announced paid valet parking and that self-park would still be free until announced otherwise. Maybe I missed something though; could someone repeat any details?

Who will be the first casino to sell Marijuana edibles or have a marijuana bar? that is a big question. Millennials will certainly go to vegas if something like that exists.

From their website: "Starting late December 2016, Caesars Entertainment will charge valet parking fees at select Las Vegas hotels. In the first half of 2017, select Las Vegas hotels will also begin charging for self-parking."

I think that area near the sportsbook was/is for customers, but I could be wrong. Also, Caesars' hiring center is over there. Employee parking is usually farther away than customer parking at most places, except for executives.

That's what Wynn/Encore are doing.

Caesars and Cosmo are going to charge for self parking.

Hmm, I guess I didn't think the first half of 2017 would mean this soon.

none of this political **** makes me want to protest but paying for parking on the strip makes me want to stand on a rainy street corner holding a posterboard sign for hours, it's so tilting.

Let me know when you're ready to schedule a riot.

I do not want to riot but my posterboard game is strong. I've already thought up a few slogans instantly just now:

"I'll park my foot in your ass!"

"Free parking is a human right!"

"Impeach Caesar!"

It is interesting that they went from no parking fees to like 13 dollar fees. You'd think they would make it a couple bucks. Also usually parking fees are because there is no parking like if you park in the city. Vegas was built on tons of parking so having a high parking fee makes no sense.

Parking on the strip is less like parking in a city to go shopping but more like parking at an entertainment venue.

Lots of NFL stadiums are located in areas that have plenty of space around for parking and people have to pay $50 for a parking pass anyway.

Foxboro only charges during games or concerts. If you roll up during the week to eat or shop at Patriot Place then it's free. I think what roils people the most is how expensive it is to use valet or self park for a quick visit. A lot of hotels I stay at only charge for overnight parking, etc.

Realistically, the only way this parking issue will change for the better is if the locals contact their state representatives and complain. And since they're not charging locals (for now), there's no incentive for them to do so. Should that policy change, then you local guys need to hound your state representatives to mandate free parking as part of the right to have a casino license, or something of that nature.

^Locals have to pay at MGM properties now. Wouldn't surprise me at all if Caesars decides to charge locals within the next year.

WTF? I thought they weren't charging locals, or did that end with the end of last year?

Well it's time for you locals to start your phone calls to your state reps!

Locals got free parking until the end of December (unless they used valet which they always had to pay for).

In late December MGM started charging locals for self parking.
