If you apply and are approved for Total Rewards Visa and make a purchase within 90 days, you will be Platinum right away, right?

Does that also give you 5000 TC toward the 15,000 needed for Diamond, meaning you only need 10k more?

Yes, you will be platinum right away.

No. They don't give you any Tier Credits.

Also, for every dollar you spend, you get 1 Rewards Credit. This basically works out to 1% cash back bonus, but can only be redeemed at CET properties or merchandise from the TR catalog.

Well I have a 2% card I would use for most everything anyway but if you charge $500 I think in the 1st 90 days you get 10k RC which is $100 in comps, which is cool.

I'm curious what Wynn/Encore will do when they finally get around the charging for self parking. Will any regulars in the poker room get free parking like they would at Caesars and MGM? I wonder how that would work.

Probably, although Wynn's comp system is pretty horrid.

if possible can we all boycott any properties that charge for parking. Something about a casino charging you money to park your car while gambling really bugs me.

With 750,000 out of town visitors each and every week no one would notice

Another step towards that reality - CET is eliminating free drinks at VP bars if playing less than max bet.

They've had something similar for a long time. The bartenders can tell at a glance whether you're just fake playing and only put a dollar of your twenty into action or not.

one interesting comment to me is how many vegas tourists don't gamble or don't gamble heavily ($$$$ and/or time)....

seems like vegas is much more about the strip now... just basic tourism (walking around looking at stuff) like many cities and shopping/eating/drinking/etc... shopping is really big of course

There are two main reasons for that. Most people now have casinos within a reasonable distance from home, so they don't feel like gambling is something they have to do in Vegas anymore.

The other reason is the target audience for strip resorts. If I look around at the poeple in the casinos in my area, it's mostly old folks or a kinda questionable clientele. I rarely see people age 21-39 that appear to be very well situated. But that latter group becomes more and more interesting for Vegas strip resorts because they spend money on food, clubs, shows and shopping.

good points......... i don't know much about vegas but i was there recently for 1st time in many years.

i agree the clientelle skews pretty old...........

basically agree on the younger person comment: the 20 something with his GF/wife and the group of male buddies are pretty common. but i tend to agree that it's somewhat sketchy class - the guy and his GF/wife especially.

Cosmo is going to charge for parking.

http://www.reviewjournal.com/enterta...y-park-program

They are pretending to be a victim. But if they really cared about customers spending money on the property they would validate parking for those that spend money on the property. Also, according to this there will be no discounts for locals.

According to someone (either here or the Reddit thread, I forget) - the guy who runs the Cosmo now used to run the Aria. He actually tried to implement pay-to-park at Aria years ago, but was rebuffed by MGM management. Now that he's in charge of Cosmo, he's more than happy to stick us with this ****.

gotta figure anyone who doesn't charge for parking (fashion mall?) is going to closely watch its lot from now on.

or move to free validated parking.... i assume that would be validated with a purchase.

Validation will work to an extent but I'm doubtful it will get adopted by too many places. I play the TI tournaments more often than I care to admit (going tonight too, probably). The millisecond they say they're going to charge for parking, I'll stop playing there.

You would stop playing TI tournaments if the started charging for parking but validated so tournament entrants could still park for free?
Caesars launches paid parking Quote

Hmm. Brainstorming -- where can you park for free on the strip?

Fashion show mall / Lucky Dragon in the North?
Hooters / Tropicana in the South?
How about Miracle Miles for centre strip?

Free with validation - I'd still play there. But I'm not going to dump $10+ to play a decent but not great tournament at a place with a kinda ****ty and cramped garage. Plus I'm sure most of the locals who play that tournament would stop going.
