42 million people visited Las Vegas in 2015. So far in 2016 there has been a 1.6% increase in visitors over last year. We poker players are irrelevant. Like all corporations, the casinos/hotels have a legal obligation to their stockholders to maximize profits and obviously they're still not fleecing the customers to a point where it deters them from coming.

Self park at Wynn is super small. Encore has more capacity as far as I can tell.

I've parked at Wynn and Venetian several times and I never had trouble finding a spot. Those garages have never filled up once when I was there.

And that's all irrelevant anyway. They aren't going to add fees for that reason.

Yeah but LVL is going to pool its money together to build a casino that has free parking, loose slots, the hottest blackjack dealers / cocktail waitresses, 3:2 blackjack games, $1/hand rake, and $5/hr comps. And because casino execs are a bunch of morons that don't know how to make money, the LVL Casino will demonstrate to everyone how to make a casino that is both extremely profitable and an awesome place to be.

ETA also **** the hotel, restaurant, and nightclub portions, clearly the most important thing is gambling.

Those green and red lights have never helped me find a spot. I think they increase the chances that a driver will hit someone pulling out of a spot. The driver will be distracted by the lights and might not notice someone pulling out.

I could see them helping on really busy nights at certain places, but I've been on the Strip enough that it's super easy to know where I can easily find a spot 100% of the time.

Do you realize how amazing a place like that sounds compared to the nickel and diming places out there today? Who wouldn't want to keep visiting a place like that over and over? I would be playing a lot more slots and blackjack because it would be a lot more fun.

Imagine that. I would spend a lot more of my money at a place like that. I'd certainly spend more than I would on any parking fees.

Hahaha I was thinking the exact same thing. That place sounds amazing and I'd be happy to drop a bunch of cash there instead of at one of the bigger spots.

Maximizing profits != maximizing shareholder value. They are only obligated to do the latter.

To me, they are extremely useful in airport garages and they might be useful in Vegas to people who aren't as familiar with the facilities as you are.

I guess I've lived here too long and am an old now...but I just don't why anyone would want to vacation on the Strip anymore. Seems everything has become ridiculously expensive compared to what you get in return. There has to be better options for a memorable vacation.

Just saw an interesting piece on CBS This Morning about the Lucky Dragons opening. Combining the availability of direct flights Beijing- LV and the fact that China is the fastest growing nation in regards of international travel, they expect to have 5 million Chinese tourists in Vegas a year in the future. Even though that growth will mostly combine from middle class families, Chinese are also expected to continue to be the biggest average spenders.

So I guess they won't complain about resort and parking fees..

Exactly.

No, you wouldn't.

And that is exactly my point.

If this concept eludes you, consider the extreme case where they offer EV 0 slots, EV 0 blackjack, and $0/hand rake. How much money do you spend?

What compromise?

They didn't want to allow gambling but somehow they think using cards instead of a ball makes sense?

I bet the Indian casinos left that meeting laughing while thinking "I can't believe they fell for it!"

Looks like a loophole to me. The laws specify that only card games can be spread so that means games like roullete and craps are out. They figure out a way to play these games with cards and voila.

pre uber/lyft i would have cared
but uber and lyft are so cheap out here for my purposes they're way cheaper than renting a car and way more efficient.

no wasting time looking for good rates on rentals, dealing with upsells, it being more expensive when my dates of a trip change and it's just faster a lot of the time to use uber or lyft.

Im hoping to get diamond this year for free, but even if I have to pay for it I intend on making sure Cesar's loses money by me existing.

You're in luck, any number of downtown or locals places have most of that already.

They only have about half of that at the most, and that's being generous. If I'm wrong I'd sure like to know where the hottest dealers/waitresses are at lol.

It's kinda hard to run a place like that if your daily interest payment is close to a million..

Those who aren't mathematically illiterate will note that $1/hand rake and $5/hr comps means zero net revenue.

Nobody runs a place like that even if their daily interest payment is zero.

Think about it. In the 50's, when the mob ran Vegas, there was zero competition for what Vegas offered. Atlantic City existed, sure, but it was nothing like Vegas, even back then. The mob could have gotten away with charging for parking, resort fees, skimping out on drinks, making food more expensive, etc. Where else would people go? Instead, they gave away the farm knowing that whatever they lost, they'd get back ten fold in gambling revenue.

Now, 30 states have legalized gaming (either state-run or tribal-run). Competition is everywhere. People literally don't have to even go on vacation to get their degeneracy fix. If Vegas wants to remain a destination, they should be doing things like giving away the farm. Instead, with all this competition around, they're starting to price themselves out of the market.

The logic of everything just seems completely backwards to me. I understand why the CEOs are doing it - they don't care about anyone except the shareholders. And with MGM, the stock price actually ticked up once they announced the pay-to-park scheme. Every Vegas local could mail their MLife card back to the MGM corporate offices and tell them to shove it, and it wouldn't change a thing as long as that stock price held steady.

Why the **** am I still awake...
Blame the Millennials. They don't like to gamble. They like to go clubbing and walk around to find the best place to take cute selfies to post on the facebooks. Vegas needs to find new sources of revenue.

That's an awfully small, not so glamorous joint, for Chinese to fly all that way for when Macau and Australia are so much closer.
