I responded to an ad on the internet. A guy is supposedly paying people 20/hr to play poker. He has a team of "coaches" and there is a possibility he can stake you in the WSOP main event. I'm meeting up with this guy at a popular casino tonight. Has anyone heard of anything like this?

I'm not investing a cent of my own money into this. He's talking like he has money and wants to make money backing people, well then lets see it. Seems to good to be true for sure, but who knows

you should meet with someone from 2p2 and go with that person, that way you can have your back watched.

Hit an ATM first, he might need some front money to get you started.

I'm going with one of my roommates. I don't think they're going to rob me though lol. It would be in a much more complex and graceful way if that was their intention

Also maybe bring some blank checks and your social security card. You know, to show your own good faith in future mutual endeavors.

Also, OP, make sure not to casually say anything negative about Nigerian royalty as this fellow is surely a member of a family there that has many billions stuck in US banks. You might also be able to help out with that.

why would someone pay you $20hr to play poker when most players can't even break that number on an ongoing basis?

I've seen stakers... and I've seen horses... but not through an advertisement.

From what I gather, he is on a heater in MTTs. The guy doesn't really seem to be the brightest, and that's what gives me hope that this is legitimate lol

I've seen postings by the same guy wanting to trade poker lessons for acting lessons, looking for an assistant, etc. It seems like he is just a donk staker lol.

98% of ALL staking deals don't work -for either party, and 95% of the time each party splits w/ bitter feelings......

TV, late night info commercials aren't *really* sellling the latest & greatest get rich quick money making method, although thats what they prey on, they're *really* selling thier "system"....which is actually how they make money. Regardless if they system works or not, the seller already made money, and the dreamer -many times low on money and desperate has once again spent thier hard earned money.

I have some real estate investments -been doing it a long time and before it was popular to "flip" houses, I ALWAYS use my own money, no partners and no one to answer to. The buck stops here.

Deals that sound to good to be true are. Period

Make no mistake, no one cares more about YOUR money than you do. Period.

if you can get a picture of him.
Scammers are rarely truly brought to shame, so if this guy turns out to be a scammer, at least we will be able to let loose the photoshop dogs for the lulz.

Take a picture of his ID. Say you just want to be safe.

I was already planning on snapping a pic of these people. Idk about asking him for his Id when he won't even text, but well see how it goes.

I wouldn't meet him in a casino or public place with all those cameras, if he does turn out to be a scammer you don't want to be caught on film talking with him. Pick some cross-streets somewhere downtown off the beaten path and ask him to meet you there sometime after dark instead.

Wouldn't this part throw up HUGE signs that something isn't right??? When someone doesn't want to talk over the phone or text it means they don't want an evidence trail that could be used later on to incriminate them.

100% this is some sort of scam, not even 99% chance of it, 100% SCAM!

In b4 the "you gonna get raped" pic
