Boy this thread got sidetracked.

The point is not whether a casino or grocery store is safer (I shoulda known that would happen when I brought up grocery stores). The point was that somebody asked about boxes in casinos, and someone in this thread seemed to think they were unnecessary. I just pointed out that there are excellent reasons for high-stakes players to keep their booty in a box. You are welcome to disagree, and you are welcome to travel to/from Bellagio daily with $25K in your pocket. But I don't see the point of telling other people they should not have a box. If you don't want one, you don't have to get one.

I think that was like 18mo ago? (Just going from memory that it was cold weather and it feels like it was more than 6mo ago.) Mighta been this winter. But watching the video of these punks shoving a gun into someone's chest had me looking left and right a lot on my journeys from garage to poker.

The iris scanner on the private vault is a little weird -- if you want it to be untraceable to you, you'd think that a numbered password would be used. It just seems odd to not want to give them your name, but instead you give them unique identifying biometric information.

Most biometric systems don't store fingerprints or images of irises, instead the image is converted into a "hash code" that can't be used in reverse.

I assume, but I don't know for sure, that this applies to private-vault companies. I also assume a person could be coerced into revealing a password or PIN code.

I'm seriously going on a tour of that guy's safe place on my nxt trip to vegas. I think it looks like a blast. Plus. Free lollipop...best deal in vegas.

I wonder if he'd let me bring a pinup model and shoot some naughty pics while I'm there. He looks degen/dirty old man enough.

Also, yea, I don't feel safe in vegas anymore. I got pick pocketed for 2k (chased the people down and got it) leaving the Casino Royale at like 3am one night.

Never again.

Just saw this headline and thought back to this thread. Sometimes an armored car doesn't do the trick, either.

im sure they do. I dont think they care how much you put in them. they just hand you the box and its your business. There may be a deposit. I would put 20hrs/week ish in first if your new to the casino to show the floor some sort of effort/sign that the aria will be your "regular" room. I took a gamble and tipped the floor 50 bucks before they even gave me an answer. In retrospect, it was pretty stupid for me to do, but it worked.

Aria has a few boxes left but you have to get them through Adam and I doubt he will give you one if you're not a regular (and probably at least a midstakes regular).

Even Leon can't give them out.

They had a booth at a gambling trade show right next to the Full Tilt Poker booth. I'd be very careful about that place.

I'd also love an update on this, bringing at least 5k in cash and don't want to go down for murdering my inevitable assailant

All of the casinos have safety deposit boxes. You don't need a poker box for a quick trip.

You don't need a box for 5k in cash.

You likely won't get a box.

The hotel rooms all have in room safes, you will be fine.

Yea, many of them have in room safes and want to charge you $3/day to use it. lol

Bally's/Paris has no safety deposit boxes in the casino for customers.

Whoa! Never knew about ring charged for in room safe? Where is that?

Stayed at Aria, Bellagio, MGM, Tropicana and Excalibur. Always had a safe in the room and was always able to use them without charge.

I think Ballys wanted to charge me the last time I stayed there, so I didn't use it.

Another Harrah's property I stayed at this year also was going to charge per night for using the safe. I think it was either Planet Hollywood or Flamingo, I'm leaning toward PH. I thought that was among the dumbest incidental charge ideas I've come across.

Flamingo and LVH charge $3/day, only way to start using it is with a credit card so you won't unknowingly use it thinking its free and get charged. I have not stayed at Bally's yet so can't confirm that. Rio is free.

That's just silly, put the $5k in your pocket like everyone else does.
