I am going to be their betting sports and going to have around 30K. I don't want to keep it on me or at a bank or at an apartment.I was hoping to go to Aria and get a box because it is centralized to all the casinos I will be going to. I just wonder since I am not a pit or poker player, will they give me a box?

I will be using it about 5 or 6 times a week.

from what the floor told me when he gave me one 2 months ago, you have to be a local/regular and use it at least every 3 months. 75$ when you lost the key.

I think they won't give you a box if they don't know your face.

Try Cosmo? It's newly opened. No poker room though, so they may not even have players boxes.

just got one at the wynn. I asked for a box earlier in the day and told me there was a waiting list. After i was done playing, i was going to tip her a quarter to keep me at the top of the list but couldnt find the same floor manager. Talked to another floor manager, tipped her 50, she insta said yes, then i tipped her another 50 for getting it done. They didnt really explain any of the terms of use, nor did i leave a deposit, unless the 100 i tipped was for deposit, though I highly doubt it.

Casino cages can do safe keeping.

Also, the 24/7 Private Vaults place is on Sunset Rd (south side of the airport). What's stopping someone like that from stealing your money? Well generally would you want to **** with the type of clientele that's attracted to this type of business?

This place and its owner are baller. Here's a link to a commercial.

For Bellagio, just leave 10K or so in an account and get it as needed.
Do the same for Venetian.
Then get a money box at one of the less popular (but safe) joints.

Is it really that unsafe to carry cash in Vegas?

Ask Greg Raymer or Scott Montgomery if it's safe to carry cash inside Bellagio. (A little googling will fill in the backstory for you if that doesn't ring any bells--both were assaulted inside the B.)

But is it completely safe to carry $20K in cash anywhere? There's a reason armored car companies are in business. The grocery store doesn't just hand the day's take to a random employee and tell 'em to go deposit it at the corner bank.

People who play NL1/2 don't typically worry much about boxes. Wandering around with a few $hundred in your pocket doesn't scare most people, and makes you relatively small potatoes in the grand scheme of possible targets in Vegas.

People who play NL10/25 typically do worry about boxes. Wandering around with $20K in your pocket does make you a target (if someone knows you have it, and you give them an opportunity to get at it).

'Course if you wander into the wrong place at the wrong time, particularly if you're too drunk to take care of yourself, you'll be a target of opportunity whether you've got $20,000 or $20 in your pocket. In any city.

The grocery store also doesn't have 4000 cameras positioned throughout their store. Nor does it have 25 armed security guards. Nor does it have 100s of police officers minutes a way.

Bad analogy.

----

I always assumed the casino would refund any stolen losses. Cameras can zoom in and know exactly how much was taken.

Surely when the Bellagio bandit stole those 25K chips, the customers weren't out the money until they caught the guy?

I'm a might bit confused as to what your point is. You're saying it IS perfectly safe to advertise that you are wandering around the streets of Vegas all alone at 3am with $25K in your pocket?

Last year the media and the casinos were going a bit bonkers over all the armed robberies taking place in the casino garages. A group of I think 3 people were sticking a gun in people's faces every few weeks and driving off with their cash. And that was just random far as anybody knew--they weren't clever enough to actually be patient and pick their targets.

LA has been plagued with follow-home robberies from the casinos. These people are specifically targeted because of what the robbers saw them leave the casino carrying. Far as I know that hasn't happened in Vegas, thankfully, but well-known poker players have been individually targeted at home. ( http://www.lasvegassun.com/news/1998...-by-armed-men/ and http://www.lasvegasvegas.com/content...as-home-robbed being two examples).

ANYway... the point remains, there are really good reasons why high limit players use boxes rather than carry 3 buyins with them every day while keeping 10 buyins at home. That's just begging for trouble. Far better to keep very little cash at home, carry very little to/from the casino, and instead keep it all in a box in the poker room.

Oh... and actually, grocery stores are LOADED with video cameras. At least one in every aisle, a couple covering the parking lot, and several over the cage. Plus casinos don't use armed security, either--cost/benefit is against use of armed security these days. And if the grocery store at the corner of Eastern and Windmill pushes the emergency button, they can reasonably expect about 100 cops to be in their parking lot in minutes.

Most casino security guards are not armed, and heavy-duty lulz at the thought that a casino would reimburse you if you were robbed. And the Bellagio bandit stole chips from the rack, not the customers. Bav's grocery store analogy is pretty much dead-on.

So if you had a choice, which would you choose? 20K in your hands. Four hours. Bellagio or your local grocery store?

Oy, I hadn't heard about that. Time to consider getting a non-resident concealed weapons permit.

I'd feel safer at the grocery store. Seriously (though a lot more bored, obv).

No one would expect a random in a grocery store to have real money in their pocket, so I wouldn't expect to be robbed. But in the B, you might get robbed in the bathroom or the parking lot just on the hope you'd be cheesed up.

If you feel more secure at the B at 3am than at the Vons on Twain at the same hour, you're unaware of how alert you need to be at the B (that Vons, otoh, reeks of "need to be alert").

And it's the false sense of security that casinos provide that leads to trouble.

Yep, I'd take grocery store in a heartbeat. Whether I'm in a grocery store or a casino, nobody will KNOW that I have $20k in my pocket but in the casino they're far more likely to suspect I might.

Is there a minimum you have to put in a cash box at the Bellagio?

How do you go about getting one there?
