I am leaving St George on the shuttle soon. I am not bringing a car with me because the risk of driving drunk is too high. Is binions a good place to play? I don't particularly feel like making my way to the rio tonight but if it is the only place for action then I am there. I hear planet Hollywood is good I will check that out. How is the action at mirage? If you want to know who I am I am the guy that wears a lot of cat shirts. Today I have one that says meows it going. Anyhow back to topic can I be profitable at binions or should I take the deuce down to the strip?

That wasn't a homosexual implication. It's just that there are a billion threads asking where the best games are.

Forget the Rio. Check out Golden Nugget. Binions is hit or miss but since your right there check it out. If no good go to strip. Find casino, find poker room.

Played at golden nugget and venitean today. Just leaving the game. Overall for the day I won $159 so not a bad start. I only drank 8 cocktails which is actually very disciplined for me. Not sure where I will go tomorrow. Just look for the guy in the cat shirt. Tomorrow will be a the dye cat shirt. Golden nugget is a good place to play.

Not a level. If it was a level, the title would have been "A guy, Another guy, Another dream - My Solo TR"

If this is your dream, go for it. But lots of people are giving tons of great advice. You already said you are bipolar and that could cause really bad problems in Vegas and just with gambling in general. Just make sure you have a backup plan (and make sure that the money really is meaningless for you) and enjoy the ride!

Edit: Just read the post where you said you had 8 cocktails which was "very disciplined" for you. Now I believe that this is going to end very badly. Forget the advice I just said and seek out professional help.

I have been to rehab before but the AA lifestyle to me is too cultish and I don't particularly care to be sober. Just being real. Today was basically a breakeven day. I played downtown again(I actually like it here). The games were good but I just had good hands run into better ones nothing out of the ordinary. I was down a lot but was able to get back to just over even which I used to buy some pizza slices. From morning to sundown I consumed a total of 12 cocktails which when you spread it out over a 15 hour time period is actually quite disciplined. Tomorrow I really want to hit up the rio it is just a pain getting there from downtown and I loathe paying cab drivers rapey prices. The other downside to the rio is their slow cocktail service since the field is so large. I prefer not to pay for my own cocktail but may have to there. Driving is obviously not an option due to my stupid dui mistakes of the past. Hope to see you guys on the felt.

So you had 8 drinks day before and 12 drinks yesterday, while your liver enzymes are already high and you have a history of substance abuse? Sure looks like you're on your way to a great life and fulfilling all of your dreams.

Brian Hastings sent out a great "tweet" the other day where he is genuinely willing to talk with anyone who is suffering from depression or mental issues. He went through some battles and came out the other side. Read his tweet and reach out to him. It is unbelievably awesome that a poker "celebrity" of his level would do this, so take him up on it.

You can get an all day bus pass, it takes a bit but way cheaper than a cab

20 drinks in 2 days is disciplined? How many in a day would be undisciplined? The comments about 8 and 12 drinks a day being disciplined makes me think this thread is probably a joke.

Gambling addict: "I don't want to stop gambling."
Drug addict: "I want to keep using drugs."
Really obese person: "I want to keep eating."
Alcoholic: "I don't particularly care to be sober."

I don't see much of a difference between those four. Yes it's common for addicts to be resistant to change, but they still would be better off trying to do something about their addictions so they can improve their lives.

And this is nothing personal btw. I've had alcoholics in my own family and that addiction made things worse for them, not better.

So I made a lot of mistakes yesterday. I decided to go to the Rio and play cash. I did as was suggested and got a 3 day pass on the bus that lets me take the deuce and all the other busses. I took the SDX to the strip then took the shuttle to the Rio. I knew cocktail service would be sporadic there so I bought my own pint of vodka and hid it in a water bottle. I played 1/3 NL and was sipping from my water bottle. I suffered a couple bad beats, made some dumb plays and was out $400 when all was said and done. I decided to walk back to the strip so I walked via industrial road and made my way to the venetian. I sat down to play there and I already was very buzzed because of dehydration. I was very disciplined and drank tons of water for a while. Then I started in on the cocktails. I made the mistake of gulping not sipping. Needless to say I lost another $200 and by this point I could barely even see straight. I fell out of my chair and security was called and I was escorted out because of my intoxication. I was told I could not leave in my condition as I could barely even stand up. Metro was called and I was threatened with the drunk tank. I was able to act coherent enough to talk the cop into taking me back to my hotel so I could sleep it off. I was escorted to my room, passed out then woke up a few hours later.

After I woke up I made another mistake of walking up fremont street, still under the influence after those hours of sleep, to the mermaid. I got one of those huge drinks and started gambling. This is the last thing I remember. I have no idea how it happened but I woke up this morning in my room and my wallet was empty. I blew through just over $1000 in one day. I want to resconstruct what happened but I have no earthly idea how it happened. I felt awful this morning. If I only sipped my drinks instead of gulped them I would be ok. I am headed back out to the strip armed with a bunch of water and hoping not to make the same mistakes. I am only going to drink water and maybe a few cocktails so I can get rid of my headache. I wish I could make better decisions.

Dude, I'm still not sure you aren't leveling but, if not, leave Vegas now. You can't cope out here. You don't have the discipline. This is going to end very bad. Try to be honest with yourself for your own good. Seek help to work through this if necessary.

Good luck.

OP- to have any chance you obviously cannot drink + play poker. Do not even try.

Welcome to Vegas!

I wouldn't be surprised if you got robbed. There are thieves out there looking for drunks they can rob. Or you could have just gambled it away. It's so easy to blow a ton of money in this town quickly.

Hookers and pickpockets would love to run into a guy who is so drunk they can easily rob him. Those people have no mercy.

1) Best strategy advice that I give to several of my friends who like to get smashed and have fun playing poker: Bring two $200 1/2 NL buy-ins with you plus $40 for cab rides each time you play, leave your ATM cards in the hotel. That way if you are having a bad day - you keep your losses under control. Keep the rest of the money in a safe or a nearby bank.
The biggest problem for poker players who have emotional control issues is that they might win most of the times they plan, but when they go on tilt or become highly emotional, they lose a ton. Additionally, someone like you would probably have a hard time adhering to stop-loss in game, so just do not have more than your daily stop loss on you.

2) Planet Hollywood nighttime games usually have a lot of people drinking and having fun, so that should be enjoyable.

3) Do not bring your own booze. Let the speed of the waitresses bringing you drinks be a natural control for the amount you drink. Typically, you will be able to get at most 2-3 drinks an hour keeping you nicely buzzed, but not letting you drink yourself into oblivion like a water bottle full of vodka will do.

4) Are you in somewhat decent shape physically? If yea, perhaps try to do some of your drinking in bars and try to meet some women for extra entertainment. Social interaction can never hurt.

That post shows why he needs to deal with his addiction to alcohol. I'll take being sober over being escorted out by security, dealing with Metro, not driving because of previous DUIs, donking off hundreds and waking up in the morning missing $1k with no idea how that disappeared.

When I said have fun in Vegas, I did not mean drink all day to deal with your problems. The super drunk guy at the table in a 1-2 NL game tends to be the fish, not the pro. I think it's time to end this "vacation" and seek professional help. And there is nothing wrong with seeking help btw.

I won't get upset if you continue the thread (level or no level it's more interesting than the stuff by TBC), but getting help should be your first priority.

I do need to deal with my addictions I realize that more than anyone. The problem is right now I just don't want to. I want to see where this journey takes me. What I haven't mentioned is I have another addiction and that is benzos. I like to eat Xanax or Valium like candy and today i showed great discipline. The way I have attempted suicide in the past has been by taking a bottle of benzos and washing it down with alcohol(Marilyn Monroe style). Today to avoid drinking I decided to take Xanax(pill form of alcohol). I was disciplined and only took a couple of totem poles spread throughout the day and had 4 cocktails. This gave me a nice buzz as the mix of benzos and alcohol is quite nice.

I have had a good day at the tables thus far. I won a total of $324. My biggest win was when a guy went all in for $262 on a flush draw and I already had the nut straight. He bricked and I won. I am currently playing at the Wynn and am mostly just sitting around waiting for a hand. The 1/3 here seems to have good action. I am typing this post to avoid the temptation of popping more Xanax or ordering more cocktails.

I am wondering if anyone has played in the deep stacks at the Rio and are they tough or easy? I am thinking I should just cash out now and walk out a winner for the day. I will head back to Fremont street but believe it or not there is just as many degens there as there are on the strip. I need to not take anymore Xanax or the night will end poorly. I appreciate the advice I have received. From now on I only take my ID and two buyins to the felt. I really need to avoid places like mermaids. Is anyone playing at the rio tomorrow?
