I am going a weekend in LV with friends. Would sb suggest the best low budget mtt during weekends? Also low stakes NL cash tables (like 1-2)? according to blind structure, fish density etc …

Thanks

Luxor runs a great low budget tournament at 12 pm on weekends.

Don't miss it.

My last two stays in Vegas were Luxor/Mandalay Bay (had to jump to MB in the middle of my 4 night stay due to f'ing up how I booked and Luxor selling out that Saturday night) and 3 nights over the first weekend in March all nights at Luxor. Each day Luxor's Noon and 3pm tourneys got 80-100 runners, unfortunately that hardly translated to extra #s at the cash games but I prefer Mandalay Bay (minus their rail doing that dumb thing where the felt dips in so you can't push your chips right up against the rail w/o tipping your stack.) the chairs are unbeatable south of Aria.

Also the Flamingo's midday/nightly $50 should be plenty donk-a-roo-tiful.

Planet Hollywood's MTTs and cash games will be also plenty donk-a-roo-tiful for your liking + the adjacent pits with the half-naked dancing girls are fun.

Also off-strip I've heard from locals I've sat with that The Orleans gets lots of runners in their tourneys but check The Bravo Poker Live App for the buy in amounts for their tourneys I don't remember them.

(FWIW: I've played only a couple of Flamingo nightly tourneys ever in Vegas just last January with a friend for fun. Binked all three nights, winning 2. I don't play tourneys especially low buy-in because I find them -TimeEV so most of what I've said above is based on observations and talking to locals at the tables over my multiple trips the last year)

RE: Cash Games

As far as cash games, who cares if it's 1/2 or 1/3 honestly so FWIW I would go to places where it's fun and comfy to play: i.e.
-Hit up Aria, the room is a must-visit for anyone who truly likes playing live poker.
-Throw a miss to Bellagio for their general poor demeanor and outlook on life. Seriously, for people who work somewhere so nice, they should really all be nicer.
-The Venetian has an absolutely beautiful room that is also huge. However, unless you're planning on paying Cushlash & Friends a visit to get your money took, I'd make this a friendly stop, not a sit.
-Play @ Caesar's before they close it. Seriously, I did in February just b/c I wanted to ensure I had checked it off the list before it was too late. It's a nice room and the staff were very nice to and personable with me both times I stopped in.

You're not required to sit for any set amount of time in a cash game, so max your time spent and sit wherever, if you're not feeling for whatever reason just get up and go to another room: it's the beautiful thing about vegas, your options within a 3 mile strip of desert are bountiful.

I think that mostly covers it. In summation:

RE: Cheap Tourney (in no order): Luxor, Flamingo, Planet Hollywood

RE: Cash Games: Take a hike and check out Aria, Caesar's for sure. Planet Hollywood has a nice mix of players and it's 1-2 like you asked. I've been playing at Mandalay Bay b/c I've been staying south strip in 2014. When I stayed at the Bellagio, Mirage & Flamingo in Nov/Dec 2013 I enjoyed the Mirage (inspite of their nasty ass chips) Venetian, Aria, Planet Hollywood & I personally enjoy talking to the dealers at the Flamingo + the players are ridiculous. Tina is nice, Charles is a man of few words but he's got a sense of humor. David is a very nice guy. Several others whose names escape me are also nice and talkative and they all deal pretty well. Also the waitress respond to a $2 tip with fast and frequent service.

Thanks a lot guys, I am actually staying at Aria, that's great!
Very nice info you game me.
I am actually going with friends who won't be particularly wage to spend 300 bucks on a tourney, so it's great to know there is some low budget stuff in Vegas.

I'll try to get a taste of most of what was suggested.

I will once again rep for heading downtown for the Binion's $80 2PM. Very deep stacks and nice people running the room.

Seconded, except just download the bravo app to your phone for real-time updates. Allvegaspoker.com has a complete listing of tournaments and also have an app you can DL but not real-time.

Love this thread shout out to NATAMUS loved your post helped out a lot. I just downloaded the bravo poker live app and im kind of pissed i didnt know about this app years ago.

A little background, im a flight attendant for allegiant moving to vegas from orlando to really try and do this poker thing. Been playing poker here and there for about 5 years now while going to college, growing up and getting a real job that i could build the bankroll and pay the bills. Saved up about 10k, paid off my car and transferred to vegas. The first time i was in vegas about 2 and 1/2 years ago i was completely broke just trying to get this job i have now only played at Excalibur and lost my 100$ buyin at the 1/2 or 1/3 NLHE cash game. Wasnt crazy about the room it was real dark and gloomy but i only played for an hr at about midnight and i didnt really talk to much of the staff or anything. When i went back after i got the job and got accepted for training in vegas, i had like 200$ to my name but i got the job i was in training and i was feeling good and i wanted to play some poker. My first tournament or anything poker was a 30$ tournament at BILLS and ended up winning first for like 150$ there was only about 12 ppl and they somehow squeezed us all into one table. I liked bills, it wasnt extravagant or anything but the staff was friendly and the field was so soft, i mean it was a 30$ buyin though so i guess that should be expected. I lost the second tournament when we were out drinking one night. I was pretty drunk and i dont even remember the name of the casino, but it was little 3 or 4 table tournament for about 60$. The third tournament i did was after i graduated and went out to celebrate. My roommate in training backed me in a 110$ buyin at caesars palace which was by far one of my favorite poker rooms i've ever played in. Just walking towards the poker room and that big high ceiling right before you walk into the poker room is beautiful. It was about 80 players, avg field from what i remember and am used to. I ended up getting 5th for 500$ and split it w/ my happy first time backer lol. The blinds got very high and noone wanted to chop which was unfortunate would've been about 1000$ each. Didnt play any cash games.

I cant wait to get to vegas and just daily grind out a few tournaments a day and I am looking for the best structure (30 min+), softest field (more tourists and less regs), biggest starting stack (10,000+), so i can build up my bankroll and get as much practice in tournaments as possible to try and maybe jump into the wsop when its hits (do some of the 1000$ buyins).

Any advice/opinions much appreciated thanks for taking the time to read and anyone in vegas that wants to play, get a drink, and talk poker strategy or whatever let me know.

Peter

Stayed at Excalibur for 3 nights they had I believe 4 low BI tournaments/day(35-40$) and it's filled with 40+ men and women very very fishy however it's turbo.. 4k starting chips blinds 15mins however they double each time from 200-400 to 400-800 so in other words it's a luck fest.. In terms of cash games they have at most one table of 1-2 once again filled with fishes..

Perfect, you're right where you need to be. Grab a slice at Five50 while you're on the waitlist and get ready to play in one of the best rooms to get some racks.

Thanks for the kind words Petey.

You should start a thread for yourself, "I'm moving to Vegas and want to play poker pro (or semi-pro on the side) and I have $xxxxx roll and have xxxx plan are pretty popular threads.
