So my SO just had a girls trip out to Vegas which made it easy for me to swing a solo trip out. I'm mid 30's, played a bunch of online poker back when it was easy, frequented two plus two, played a bit in Vegas on business trips and did okay. Now am going on my first solo rec trip.

Planning to stay at Monte Carlo and MGM, play a bunch of 1/2, 1/3, at Aria, Venetian, Planet Hollywood, Bally's, etc, find some good food (Kubato, Wicked Soon, etc), spectate some of the WSOP and hit the pool if it isn't too hot to breath outside.

Obviously there is a chance my game is too rusty so I'm going to post the TR to keep myself honest about giving it a solid try hard and not fishing it up too bad. Any recs are welcome.

Will post associated hand/table updates and pics of the tourist explorer variety. Not sure I even get the shoe tradition but in honor of said tradition here it is

Would def be down to grab a bite or beer, not sure if my PM even works yet so just toss out if you're game here.

So mid day 2, about 14 hours of 1/2 in, no super crazy hands to speak of, running a slow grind up about 10BB/HR.

One thing of note, dude must have been planing hit the strip clubs and ended up at the poker table instead:

Thinking of checking out Caesar's this evening.

Back to about even on the trip after getting all in on the flop with the nut straight against a flush draw that called big and hit. More fun tomorrow.

Getting over the poor results of good decisions will always be tough for me. My first big hand when I got here I was pushing KJ hard on a j high dry flop. Villain called me down big with JT and spiked the river T. I should have gotten away from it on the river, but that was really only a forty dollar mistake. The V calling repeatedly was making 60 dollar mistakes but got paid. Just gotta rebuy sometimes and hope that the math wins for you in time, right?

Spent the day sleeping in, hitting the pool, then spectating the WSOP ME over at the Rio. Ready to hit the tables again and see how the night goes.

Calling it an early night, my sleeping in was only about 4 hours, that and the pool time is catching up. Had a nice hand come up at the during the quick PH session though:

V1 (to my left) - Says he mostly plays higher games, likes to splash around, and gets a bit low, about $53. On my BB he announces all-in *blind*.

V2 (three to my left) - Calls the bet, has about another $100 behind.

Folds around to Hero with KQo. I go all-in, V2 calls.

V2 turns over QJo. Flop comes K4K47. V1 shows 99. I take it down with the boat:

Leaves me up a bit now... Hopefully get some good zzz and have a full tank for a marathon session tomorrow night, my last night.

Caught the regulars at the Bellagio this morning, the deck wasn't kind and ran into sets left and right and AA to finish me off. Expensive but tasty Orange Julius and Hot Chocolate:

Went back and did a bit more spectating at the WSOP ME, good bit of fun rail birding it then back to the strip.

Cashed out the PH comps for another tasty dinner at Earl of Sandwich then went back to the room and caught a solid power nap. Woke up refreshed and ready for the last night.

Checked Bravo and decided to stick with the MGM, ran pretty good at MGM until I had AJ and raised a straddle, guy calls down a good pre and huge post bet with 9To, catches the river T and says, I was looking for the 7 (for the gut shot, he was serious and generally terrible). Steamed a bit but ran my stack back up to cash out down 100 when the game broke at 4 am.

Still feeling pretty good, checked Bravo again and decided to hit up the ARIA. Was wait-listed for a bit, finally get a table and am card dead for ages. Unfortunately after the dry spell I picked up JJ and ran it into AA. About does it for poker this trip, love the walk back to the hotel with the sunrise after an all-nighter.

About 30 hours of poker, net down: $500.

Was a crazy fun trip and after having not played serious poker for over five years I was prepared to be down that the first night. Definitely felt I was getting a bit more back into the groove each day but still made my fair share of donk moves.

Going to pack up the room, hit the pool for a bit and head to the airport. Until next time. Thanks for the feedback, def added to the fun of my first solo rec trip.

$500 isn't bad at all. Hell, I would call that a win

What is a dragon BLT? Just looks like a bacon sandwich form over here
