If the room is as nice as everyone says it is, then I probably won't get many hours of play in and will end up spending the whole week in my room. Can't wait!
Sounds like the beginning of a great IP rebranding campaign!

Great how a thread about IP turned so seedy.

Re: Anything Going On With Imperial Palace?

Thanks for all the advice, as well as all the posts that just made me laugh (StarBerry, ur seriously sick, dude!). Ended up confirming through Caesars Entertainment that renovations were ongoing at IP, explaining the lower-than-usually-low rates there. Opted instead for Bally's @$420 + tax for a Sunday through Saturday stay, first week of November. IP would have been $176 + tax for same days (that's some serious coin that could be put to use elsewhere --- any ideas, Starberry?), and even Flamingo was available for $408 (roughly the same as Bally's), but Bally's it is.

So now I just have to wait a little over two months to get out there!

Re: Anything Going On With Imperial Palace?

Ask for a North tower diamond level room when you check in.

Just an FYI for anyone staying at the IP. They have started charging a deposit. I went to check my friend in there the other day cause he's broke, has no ID and nowhere to sleep and the manager said its a flat $75 deposit. He said they've had that in place for 6 months but he's full of ****. Anyway, we went next door to Harrahs, the room was $30 a night and they didn't ask for a deposit.

Thanks for the tip, KingBB. Will this provide a view of the fountains? $20 trick required? Certainly willing to do so (I'm not THAT cheap!), just want to be aware.

The only way to see the fountains from IP is to go to the roof and stack about a hundred cases op beer and climb on top. You DO NOT want stripview (tower 5) at IP unless you don't mind the noise of Harrah's Carnival Joint till 4 every morning.

The North Tower Diamond level rooms that we were talking about are at Ballys.

Re: Anything Going On With Imperial Palace?

Just got back, and against my better judgement, stayed at the IP because of my cheap buddies. Now I have stayed at Bill's and can stomach that kind of cheesy quaintness. The IP has sunk to new lows IMHO. The rooms were not bad but the clientel is quite another story.

We got to see vomit in front of the elevators that wasn't cleaned for quite a while...huge domestic violence with some guy beating the sh$t out of his girlfriend/wife. Security finally all over it. Came back to my room twice with people being arrested on my floor for various who knows what...

Casino floor mainly populated with LA gang member types looking for trouble...it was quite the experience.

Topping it all off was the construction...got a room away from the noise so that wasn't bad but the casino is a mess.

What, is that all? But it's not that bad according to a lot of other people itt. As they say, you are probably a high maintenance snob like me.

Re: Anything Going On With Imperial Palace?

Maybe when I have stayed at IP I did it right. I always stayed in a Capri room. After all if I am going to be cheap I may as well stay in the cheapest room. But a feature that these rooms had was an exterior door. Hence you did not need to use elevators, walk in the hallways, or even enter the Casino. It was out the door walk up the driveway and cross the street to Caesar's or take the short walk to the Venetian. As the drill said rooms were not bad. Certainly not luxurious but clean and good enough for a single poker player.

All moot after the remodel I guess. Whats the next cheap room for a cheap poker player ? Bills?, Harah's? Flamingo?

Bill's, Harrah's, Flamingo and also Circus Circus and Excalibur will be the lowest of the low. I'm guessing that once IP reopens (as The Quad, lulz) it'll be priced in line with a Bally's or Monte Carlo.

Re: Anything Going On With Imperial Palace?

Harrahs had rates of $35 last week and this week. I asked the "Check in Lead" guy if he could drop the rate a little and he dropped it to $30 a night, my friend was pretty happy paying $100 for 3 nights.
