Anything Going On With Imperial Palace?

I'm in early planning stages for a trip to LV in October, and was checking out hotel rates at vegas.com. IP rates are considerably lower than other strip casinos. Now, I've stayed at IP before, so I know it's not the nicest place on the strip, but the location is fantastic. Is anything going on (construction, renovation, etc) that would explain the significantly lower rates? I mean, for 1/3 the price of Bally's, how bad can it be?

Yes there is construction next door at O'sheas. And from about a month ago, they were renovating parts of the casino, including the poker area which they've moved to their sportsbook area.

The rates have always been lowest on the strip. Non-weekends are usually comped for any TR member.

The whole area around and including the IP is under construction due to project linq and the place is a ****hole.

I wouldn't stay there again anyway, but especially not now with 10 hours of jack-hammering going on all day. It was already annoying enough with Carnival Court. Trust me the additional $ per night you'll pay somewhere else will be very worth it.

Even discounting the construction, the IP may indeed be only 1/3 as good as Bally's. It's fine for someplace to sleep (although I would immediately dry everything as soon as I got home, to kill any bedbugs), but rest assured it is a craphole.

Re: Anything Going On With Imperial Palace?

I heard two different complaints about noise. One was poolside rooms (DJs jamming in the late morning hours), and the other already mentioned regarding the jackhammers.

I had a Sun-Thursday trip booked at $17/night booked at IP, and decided to change to Gold Coast for $27/night x 2, and then the Rio for $25/night x 3, just to avoid the noise.

I had also seen some reports about rooms being robbed at IP in TripAdvisor, that I did not see elsewhere. I was not sure if this was a fluke, but with the rumor and the noise, I decided to cancel IP myself.

Construction everywhere. In fact, entrances to LV Blvd opened up overnight (this turned out to be very disorienting).

Also extremely quiet and comfortable bed. Sleep there was the best of my recent trip.

Why in the world would you move from the IP to GC locations ?????

That place needs to be burned down. I'm not very high maintenance, but I couldn't stay there. Construction everywhere. Loads of bed bugs. All the sheets have holes in them from cigarette burns, etc. Roaches. Sinks and showers don't drain very well. The place just looks and feels filthy. I had plans to stay there for 3 weeks this past summer. I moved out after 2 nights. That place is the nut low. You couldn't pay me to stay there.

If you are by yourself there is nothing wrong with IP. Yes it is tore up but I never spend any time there other than sleeping. I have never had a problem with linens showers or cleanliness of the rooms. I have probably stayed at IP five or 6 times in the past two years. If you are 420 friendly it is the best hotel due to the balconies.

This!

Everyone says "I'm just sleeping there, I'm not gonna be in the room that long etc, etc, blah blah blah" but your belongings and luggage are gonna stay there the whole time, along with the roaches, bed bugs and other assorted vermin.
