Anyone want to suggest a new hotel for me to try out next month?
Does anyone want to suggest a new hotel for me to check out? I usually stay at the Mirage for the price, location, eye candy and I really love their poker room.I'm on East Coast workin man time so when I get into Vegas I wake up at 4-5am.I find that the Mirage will usually have a couple of 1/2 tables going wich is nice due to my schedule.I've been most profitable at this time due to being well rested, thinking clearly and not on an all night heater.I paid for my last trip on 1/2 (honestly) so good morning action is key.Another "free" vacation would be great!
Some facts to consider before suggesting a hotel:
1. I'm 33, done with the party thing, would rather go to the dentist than party with Ed Hardy wearing d-bags.
2.Mirage is around my price range, I couldn't afford Wynn, Bellagio, Aria ect.
3. Have a girlfriend so don't need to get laid.
4.I go by myself....by choice.
5.Love to spend a couple of hours by the pool...any pools as nice as the Mirage?
6.I like being on the strip but would consider a hotel with a free shuttle to and from.
7.I thought that the food choices at the Mirage were very poor, The Carnegie deli sucked, nothing like NYC one.
8.Hotels I've been to:
A. Luxor, sucked, girlfriend talked me into it, I saw our room and changed it to the towers within 5 minutes.Towers were very nice but i'd never go back.
B.Monte Carlo, was ok, first time I went was a C, second trip our room looked like a frat house, broken dressers, interesting stain on the bed,D
C. Mirage of course, B+, There was this SMOKING HOT Asian girl working in front of the Beatle club, had to get my stalk on whenever going back to my room.
9. Best morning action, 1/2 2/5?
I know there are some people on here that have lots of experience in Vegas so I'll take whatever suggested into consideration.
Thanks, Jay

lol... this statement is SO TRUE!

Morning... is going to be Aria after about 10am and the Vennetian. you might mix in the Wynn on certain days. if you wanted to travel off strip, the day game at Red Rock is usually packed.

Re: Anyone want to suggest a new hotel for me to try out next month?
Ballys offers cheap rooms, advertises and caters towards blue-collar workers (no resort fee's) and has a great location in the middle of the strip.
A few food choices on the main level & below, plus connected to Paris w/ lots more food choices, and its part of the mono-rail system. The place is dated and not fancy, but clean & safe. They have a pool, its dowstrairs in the back. The poker room has probably close a dozen table and ussually 2 or more $1/2 no limit games going, at least 4-5+ games on the weekeneds, and generally 1 or more limit tables being played. This poker room is very much geared towards inexpercined players and players just looking for fun, not many local pro's grinding for a living......although the local grinders, kids w/ a dream, and retiree's can be found in all the games today, all levels, at all the casino's
Easy walking distance across the street to Bellagio, or Aria, or same side for Paris & Planet Hollywood, across the other way at you're Caesars, Bills gambling Hall is on the other side -known as a low rent seedy joint with hookers, drugs, dark & dingy walls from years of cig smoke, .50/1 poker and $7 steak & egss at 3 in the morning.

Re: Anyone want to suggest a new hotel for me to try out next month?
My top three picks for your price range/requirements would be:
MGM Grand -- If memory serves, its actually a little less expensive than the Mirage usually. Bigger poker room and youll have no trouble finding soft, low stakes action. The rooms there are quite nice. I prefer them over the mirage because they seem bigger. The poker room always has softish low stakes games going, and it tends to attract a younger drunker crowd.
PH -- really nice casino in a great location, but i understand its gotten quite pricey, so it might be out of your range if the V and the B are. Not sure. Price it and see i guess. Also not 100% their cardroom is going to have as much action as you want.
Ballys -- Pricewise, ballys is about on the same level as mgm grand, maybe a little cheaper. They have what many think is the softest low stakes room on the strip, but im not sure they have games running 24/7. Also, Caesars, the Bellagio, and paris are easily accessible either without going outside or only going outside to walk over the overpass, so you have effectively 3 additional pokerrooms that are practically on property (and then from the B you can get to aria and the monte carlo without leaving property) . The renovated rooms (north tower, i think) are fairly nice.

Guy wants to hang out with dentists though... aren't most upper end resorts about the same or similar to Mirage in pricing?

MGM never "did it" for me, not sure why, never seen a room.I walked all the ****ing way to that monorail one time just to see it cost $20.They're smart, they don't tell you it costs money till you walk there, thought it was free like TI's.
PH is too dam neon/hot pink for me, I ate in the coffee shop at 8am and the place was a ghost town, not one game running. Thanks for the tips anyway.

Re: Anyone want to suggest a new hotel for me to try out next month?
BTW...."Harrah's" is the parent entertainment company that has properties all over the world. They also own about a third of the properties on the Las Vegas Strip, and many smaller casino's located in various mid-western states.
Some of their Vegas properties include; Caesars, Ballys, Imperial Palace, Paris, Planet Hollywood, and RIO.
Every Casino uses some "gimic" promotional marketing to retain customers. The system used by Harrahs is called Total Rrewards. Its a credit card looking card w/ your number on it that tracks your play and then builds "rewards points". These rewards points (refered to as comps) can be used for food, entertainment, free or discounted rooms, you can buy things in their stores, ect.
I used to play quite a bit at Harrahs properties and have built up a ton of thier rewards points....or it seems like it anyway. I never pay for food when I'm hungry at their places, and they are forever sending me stuff in the mail for free/discounted rooms. In fact this thread made me open the lasted offer, a big 4 page flyer that says I have x amount of free room comps and they list available dates for Sept, Oct, and Nov.
So, for what its worth, if you're going to Vegas on a fairly regular basis (2-3 times per year, or once per year) its probably worth to get started in one of the comp systems offered from the casino's.

Don't know what you ate there but I have never had a bad meal at The Carnegie Deli.
Try the Jeff's special next time. How can you not like a hot, open faced, 3 lb meal of Corned Beef and Pastrami with melted swiss over a potato knish or a 2 lb Woody Allen on Rye?
Their pickles are also awesome. I've driven down there at 3 am just to get a late night noshing.

To be fair, I only ate there once, waitter got my order wrong, I had a tourney to play so I just ate the crappy and it was a crappy omlette. I was born in NYC and ate there all the time so I'm kind of a deli snobb.I'll give it a second chance if you say it's good, I know you know what you're talking about king, i've been reading this forum for years.
