Anyone Stay @ LVH and Take Monorail to Caesars?

Hey guys, i'm new here but im going to be in vegas in Sept to play the Ceasars Kick Off tournies, going solo. Looking for cheaper hotels, found LVH on some sites at like $40 a night but I hear its a little further out from the strip. They got the monorail that runs there and I want to take it during the tournies and get dropped off to Caesars. Has anyone done this? I know they stop running at 2am, so ill have to cab it after that.

I really don't recommend it. The monorail really doesn't stop at Ceasar's Palace. Ceasar's is on the West side of Las Vegas Blvd and the monorail is not only on the East side but also behind all the giant casino hotels on that side. So you would be taking the monorail from LVH to Harrah's or Bally's then walking all the way through those casinos, across the street, and then all the way through Caesar's each time.

There are plenty of equally cheap and much better options within a brief walk to the Ceasars poker room like Bally's, Harrah's, and Flamingo that will make you much happier.

Either switch hotels or resign yourself to cab rides or a car rental. Monorail is not realistic.

Thanks for the info on the monorail. I think I'll take your advice and stay closer to the strip. I know IP reviews here suck plus I read here they are doing a lot of construction. Maybe Ballys then would be the other option.

Thanks

If it will save you enough money I think your plan is doable. You would get off at Flamingo and walk through the casino and either cross at the light for the car entrance for Caesars (which would take you closer to entrances close to poker room) or walk down to the elevated walkway in front of Bill's. The walk would be 15 minutes tops and 2/3 of it would be indoors.

Bally's is going to be a further walk or possibly exactly the same than from the Flamingo monorail station to Caesars. You would have to walk to the front of Bally's, get to LVB, cross Flamingo and LVB on the elevated walkways, then walk to the front of Caesars. I don't think that is any closer than Flamingo's monorail station.

Monorail round trip is $9 so keep that in mind with prices. Bally's will have no resort fee. I have no idea if LVH has one.

Thought about a rent a car? Then you can concentrate on the tables, and stay farther away also. Fyi, im also trying to make final plans to be there 9/5 for about 5 days.

The only thing the monorail is good for is burning calories while walking through the casinos. I honestly do believe this is a good thing, as I typically eat more poorly in Vegas and sit for hours at the poker table, so an excuse to walk is welcome.

I imagine that the stations were put behind the casinos to avoid an eyesore on the strip, but it decreased its usefulness to the point that it will never be profitable. The average tourist would get lost just trying to find the station amid the casino mazes that are designed with the express purpose of keeping people in the casino.

Monorail is expensive.

Every single time I tried to save some money by staying off strips I regretted it.

The monorail is a great mode of transportation but it is located poorly at the far back of most properties and it is only on one side of LVB (not the Caesars side). For the price it is probably better to go door to door in a cab.

The only good use I've found for the monorail is if you're staying way North or or way South strip and you've wandered all the way to the opposite end during your day/night. You can grab a beer and zip back to your hotel for $3.50 or whatever and avoid cab lines and cab fares. Anywhere less than like 3 stops isn't worth it at all, the walk to and from is the same.

Re: Anyone Stay @ LVH and Take Monorail to Caesars?

I use the Monorail a fair amount. You can get $1 rides each way at a couple of the locations with an NV ID, and I find it to be extremely convenient if there is a big event in town. If there is a big fight or event at MGM/Mandalay, or it is a really busy time of year (i.e. Memorial Day weekend, New Years, etc), I find it far more convenient to park away from the heart of the Strip and take the Monorail in and out to save time in traffic both ways.

Also, it makes far more sense financially for a single traveler to use the Monorail than a group of people who could split a cab. Tourists can buy a 3 day pass for around $25 or so, and you can use that to come and go as you wish (none of the Strip properties will take more than about 10 minutes of walking from any stop).

Yea every time I went to vegas I rented a car and thought it was a waste plus if I do end up drinking a bit I don't wanna risk it. Where are you staying?

Yea I wonder if it's ghetto too. I may just have to find hotels that are walking distance to CP if I bust the tournies I'll probably wanna find some other tournies like the aria 7pm. Lemme see what kinda deal I can get a rental cause I gotta factor in the trip fr the airport and back which is what like 20 bucks each way on avg?

If this is what to do, then stay at Bally's. Its only a 10 minute walk from Bally's
to Caesars. It is across from Bellagio and from Bellagio there is a walk way and a tram to Aria

Among the cheap places IP is closest to CP, then Harrah's, then Flamingo, then Bill's and then Bally's. (Also Casino Royal is close but... )

My brother was staying at the LVH last month for a conference at the convention center and said the hotel was pretty bad. He had to change rooms two times because they were super dirty. The third room he took and stayed in had a broken bathroom sink.
