BTW, my PokerJournal is starting to run piss poor slowly on my phone and is causing lots of problems. Anyone know how to maybe store the old data and start fresh or clean it up somehow?

Spent the last few months in Washington helping a friends Cannabis business. Was very fun working with plants all day. Some pics of the most recent flower room:

Went back to Las Vegas for a few weeks in June to play some cash during the series. Ended up playing a daily deepstack and cashing around 100th place, but mostly played $2/5 at Caesar's. Currently visiting family in Chicago and getting some hours at Horseshoe.

Here are my updated stats for $1/2, $2/5, and combined.

I have seen a lot of misinformation spread about bankroll requirements and what makes sense for a player trying to make it without needing a second job. One of my friends helped me understand why Risk of ruin calculations can be a narrow way of looking at the problem. He created a cone chart to show reasonable outcomes over weeks and years based on a person's win-rate, hours per week played, standard deviation per hour, and expenses. The possible outcomes are +-1,2, or 3 standard deviations and helps visually see your potential bankroll over a range of time.

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets...10&single=true
67% of the time, my bankroll will be between -1 and +1 standard deviations in the allotted time. 95% will be between -2 and +2 std, and 99% between -3 and +3 std.

Ending up working on other ventures which left poker to be a part-time gig for me for since the last update. I did go to Las Vegas for the WSOP last year in June to play cash games and I have played around 10-20 hours a week since. I am heading back to Vegas in June again this year and decided to journal my summer. I am just going to continue this dead thread unless people think I should start a new one.

I will be playing the Big 50 at the WSOP and most likely $2/5 NL / $1/2/5 PLO

The poker tracking app I was using on my iPhone stopped updating and I was unable to use it since shortly after my last results were posted. I decided to just keep track in excel since then.

I also started playing the great game of pot limit omaha. The $1/2/5 PLO games in the Chicago area are a good place to learn. I split my time between that and $2/5 NLH. When I first started playing $2/5 again, I was a little rusty and it took me a couple hundred hour to re-gain a solid edge in the game. I have worked on my game a lot the last couple of years. Although I still have a lot to learn, I feel very confident in my game at the moment.

Health wise, I have lost about 40 pounds in the last two years cutting out most of the carbs and sugar out of my diet. It helps tremendously with my focus while I am playing.

Below are my stats since the last update:

$1/2 NL

$1/3 NL

$1/2/5 PLO p1

$1/2/5 PLO p2

$2/5 NL p1

$2/5 NL p2

$2/5 NL p3

Handful of tournaments I played. I also played some online tournaments that are not listed

I am glad you enjoyed it!

I should also probably mention a lot of the 0.25 hour $1/2 sessions are 15 minutes of playing while I was waiting for a $2/5 or PLO game. It has been a while since I have played $1/2

I am getting super excited for Vegas!

Some chip porn from last summer WSOP.

This was from an insane $1/3 NL session at Wynn where I cashed out around $4200 or 1400 BBs:

Strong $2/5 session in Hammond:

awesome update; cool to see all the tracking documentation; you do quite well at poker for it being a part time gig

love the chip porn

what would you consider optimal strategy for PLO (don't have to get too specific to give away any info; just curious about your thoughts)

good luck out there!

I am assuming I play far from optimal in PLO, but since live games are 9 handed, i think tight/aggressive is right for me. As my hand reading in PLO gets stronger, I will open up a little bit. It is far too complicated a game to give a deeper answer to that question in this response, unless you have a specific question about a spot

Glad you're enjoying the updates! I will try to start posting more hands, but easier to just post pics =/

Sustainable? In case you were wondering what's possible in a week of god mode... This doesn't include my WSOP cash which brings my week 1 total to about $10K profit. On pace for a $40K month, lol

A few thoughts so far on the trip:

It is very easy to see why people cannot handle poker full-time as far as mental strength is concerned. I feel like I constantly have to coddle myself and self-correct slips in my mental attitude. When up a bunch, there is a slight fear that playing more will give it all back. I have to keep reminding myself why I am here and what my goals are. So far, I think I am doing a great job, but my good run of cards is making it easy than otherwise would be. One thing that has helped me is to remain grateful for how good I am running.

-Wynn is by far the best poker room in Las Vegas. I spent 15-30 minutes in some of the other $2/5 games around town and just felt miserable. The ambiance, service, and comfort are a must for me when choosing to grind long hours. Even if the games might be slightly tougher on average, is evens out through the comfort and happiness.

-As far as where to play for the best games... A good game can and will break out literally anywhere. Might as well stay where I am comfortable and try to get in the good games when they break out in my home location.

-The games are SLIGHTLY less soft in the second week of the WSOP. This is probably because a lot of the recreational Big 50 players have left town.

-I have yet to have a losing day and I have been here almost a full two weeks

-I am really enjoying getting to know my table mates and striking up conversations. I have not had to put in my headphones a single time so far. I am confident I play better when fully engaged in my table.

-Quick PLO hand from last night that I think I butchered, but unsure....

Effective stacks were mostly $1K, except the guy that acted after me (V1) with $500.

Hero limps UTG w/ AA35 no suits
V1 raise $20
V2 Call
V3(CO) raise $85
V4 (SB)call $85
V5 (BB)call $85
Hero should pot, call, or fold?

Congrats on the run good; I am sure you are playing well too!

I am am a novice at PLO (I asked you the question earlier in the thread about your strategy, which you responded to; thanks btw!), but I personally don't like bloating the pot OOP with just aces, when relatively deep, and with multiple players likely to call. But again, I am a total novice.

Folding is out of the question; and calling seems weak though too. **** it, pot it? I have no clue

Ughh I'm a bit of a PLO newb but feels like an ugly spot.

I might fold this due to bankroll / variance fears, but I'm guessing that the correct play is to pot this because you can get over half your stack in there with AA preflop? If stacks were 3k, for example, I think a raise would be a mistake.

Obviously on the lower end of 'AA' hands, but the fact you can get so much in pre makes potting an ok move, I'm assuming.

It's definitely a weird spot. I think if I can get the pot heads up a majority of the time then I should pot it. The problem is my read based on the game was that everyone would call and I would have to check/fold most flops. I am not sure if calling to set mine is great here either. I did end up potting ($505). Unfortunately, everyone called and I had to fold on 789hh board. Based on the game I was in, I assume this was a big mistake and unnecessary

The energy is takes to play full-time and maintain an A game during the summer is immense. I already have a lot of lazy habits, and I feel bad that I did not continue to update this thread. I decided I needed to focus on just playing and making it through the summer. I decided to post some quick re-cap photos and overall results so people can see what a cash game grinder can do during the WSOP if you run well.

In cash games alone, I played 172.5 hours, profited $20,125 for an hourly rate of $117. This is way higher than my normal hourly. About half was NL and half PLO. My NL hourly was about $88 and my PLO hourly was about $144. I played 3 tournaments and cashed one. Here are some random pics...

This is the Big50. I busted in the money with 18 minutes left in Day 2 KK to AA all in preflop

This is the tournament I bubbled, 3 bet jamming AQ into JJ open for 17BBs.
