Don't know how to feel about this report.
On the one hand it's great.
On the other hand I'm insanely jealous!

Last day at T.I.

After getting a good 6 hours sleep, im up and packed ready for the drive to LA.

The treasure island was all in all a good experiance for the money. Heard mixed reviews about it, but i would stay again for a poker trip because of the price and the proximity to Venetian and Wynn which gives you a great choice of poker cash + tournaments

Pros
Walking distance to venetian + wynn poker room
Reasonable selection of food+drink on site
Low stakes pit games ($5 dice)
Decent pool atmospehere (its no wet republic but still a good atmosphere)
15min walk to peppermill


Cons
Tiny bit dated in places
Poker room has high rake ($4+$2)
Not many tables/players and lots of promo chasers (paid to play)

Now, half way to LA we stop at peggy sues diner, good burger to keep me going,* and next stop will be the hotel and straight to the commerce for poker!

And we are checked in and already seated in a 5/5 300-500 buy in game


Good game so far, just sitting tight to get used to players styles and see what people do here, so far, seems super fishy!

TI used to be even better a few years ago when the poker room was decent. The thing I like most is the way the place is laid out. The room elevators are centrally located. It probably has the shortest walks from room ro where you want to go of any medium to large Strip casino.

Fazzers, how much are you laying down on the hard ways? Are you also making any other bets (place, come)?

Im betting $10 the line with full odds

And usually $15 on 4+10, and either $12 or $24 on 6+8

Start with $5 each hard way, more if the point is 4/6/8/10. Also pressing them $5 each when a hardway hits.

Well yestaday was an experiance!

We run our $500 to $1400 after AJ on J 7 5 2 A is good vs unknown hand, and a few other hands.


Then its all down hill, after moving games a few times i got screwed....

AJcc on K 10 5 cc v J10 (all in on flop)
KK v A10 on K J 5 4 Q (got shoved on for $700 on flop)
44 v 73 on 4 5 7 10 6 (all in flop $900 each)
55 v 67 on 4 5 A K 8 (3bet pot all in for $1000 on flop)

A loss of $2100 for the day :-(

The shallow buy in makes it very gambly, which is good if you hold with your big hands. Will try $5/$10 but im told $5/$5 with $500 max is best value

What was that place like? I see plenty of billboards for the place on the drive, but never been.

I would go again, reasonable prices and a great halfway point for a break and food.

Burger was decent, was told the evening meals are even better

sorry to hear you get crushed due to some run bad, but from what I have inferred from reading your posts, I doubt you will get discouraged.

A small update

After getting smashed by the locals on saturday i spent sunday with my buddys friends place, i forget the name but was a nice area and a lovely view





After a day by the pool and some great bbq and games, get an early night and go to check out some sights. The usual downtown (what a dump) and beverly hills (over priced designer brands) i end up at an outlet mall, grab a few bits including a new suitcase (normally £400 in the UK, snagged it for $130 absolute steal)

So, we want to get revenge at the commerce, seated in a 5/5 game obv max buy 500.

Very first hand flat 99 4 way.

Flop A K 9 we get it in vs a woman, she had AK turn A...was sweating a 9 for the small bad beat jackpot but no joy.

We move table and get AA v AK pre for 500.

Then KJcc, pre flop aggressor bets 200, i check raise all in for 700 on a flop of Qc 9c 8d he makes the call with 1010 and holds with Jh hits the turn :'( (shocked he made the call)

Went on a nice run, in for 900 (actually have $1300 in my pocket due to the rule of only that you can only bring $500 into a game when you move)

Peak $1700 ($1300 in pocket)


Plus i took some action of my buddy in the same game, he doubled up early on.

Now sat in a 1/2 PLO game, will be finishing here by 2am, ready for a trip to venice beach and probably give the bike a go in the evening to see what its about.

I'm loving the TR; lots of action and brief non-poker updates; sounds like a fantastic trip!

do you just happen to have a lot of friends state side; or did you used to live in the USA?

So my best friends wifes best friend moved from the UK to LA...so they make regular visits.

They flew to LA and i flew to LV, and they drove down and we did 4 days. Then they drove me back to LA and we did a few bits together. They leave for home tomorrow, i leave for LV tomorrow

Not many friends/family living here, but a huge croud of UK players start arriving soon for WSOP so i will be in good company for the rest of the trip.

Im so glad i got a chance to check LA out, I feel like i have seen loads but in sure theres loads i have missed.

Loved Abbott Kinney, went to the newly renovated Lemonade place...9/10


Just sat at the beach watching the world go by, bit cloudy but ideal for walking and exploring.





Off to the bike this evening so hopefully plenty of poker updates

Poker in America is massively different

Most comman game in London is 1/2 and you can buy in for 400 max

In LA 1/2 you can buy in for 40max WTF

The places in Europe i have played have been during festivals and are loose and good action. London has lots of value at the weekends. Even more value in most games in vegas im sure, but its finding that exceptional game where your just printing money.

I will do a review once my trip is finished, but so far, low stakes cash has low max buyins, and you pay alot more in rake in cash and tournaments.

I think i press too much on the hardways, but i once rolled hard ten 3 times in 4 rolls and pressed big each time, turned £50 into £3000+ in 10mins.

Wish i had a bigger roll to take advantage of 100x odds!

Some of my best LA poker nights have been on that 1/ 40 haha. Great way to punt off some stress after a few drinks on a bad day at the tables!

So i wanted to grab a bite and head to the bike...but seems its against me

1. Went to a taco place, ordered, 4 people next too me start kicking up a fuss and back all the food and walk. Then my waiter comes back and says theres a problem in the kitchen and its a 40min wait...no thanks!

2. Was going to head to the bike and stop on the way...erm no


Taking a long walk to a well rated taco and chicken place and hoping the traffic calms down after 6.30

A 90min lyft and i finally make it to the bike. ($35 dirt cheap, gave the guy $20)

Seated in a 2/3 with $300 max debating playing the $5/$10 LATB game $500+ no max game but from the streams i saw was only a few spots.



First impressions, this place is newer and much tidy/organised but its nowhere near as busy and the game im in is rather nitty.

Only 3 2/3 games, and 1 5/5 game and the 5/10 live at the bike game vs 10 games of similar stakes at commerce.




If i run this up to $1k plus i might take a shot

That $40 buy-in is just an L.A. thing.

A Brit pub league, Redtooth Poker, brought out 100 players for a tourney finale they played at the Orleans. Sounds pretty cool to get a free trip to Vegas during WSOP.

Live at the bike!!+

So got my 300 up to 600, topped up 400 and moved to 5/5 must move (1k max)

Rivered the nut flush for a 800 pot, then got moved to main game

First hand 8 way i close action with 85o

Flop 889dd

Gets bet and called, we raise big stack calls
Turn 2
He checks i shove he calld with K9o we hold.

Then we flop trip 4s 5 way and check raise flop and call 4 callers still, turn is flushing card...we get to show down and are good in 1k pot.



Then call 6 way 67....

Action flop....


Flopped the nuts and get bet 50, i make it 130, call 130, raide 530....goes in he has 67 we chop

Then a guy who gets screwed in 2k pot shoves 250 vs my 40 open, i call with A10. another loose fish calls


850 in the pot, board runs out J 7 4 3 3 and im good v K10 and KQ

Got 3.4k infront of me...in the most amazing game of the trip for $2.7k profit so far
