Thanks Binksy. Hit the wall at about 1:30 and decided to cash out before I did something stupid. Down $47 in the session, so I'm sitting on $305. Not the start I was hoping for, but hey.....could be worse.

I didn't notice it when I checked in, but the A.C. has a 'whirring' sound that's pretty annoying. It made it somewhat difficult to fall asleep. The water pressure in the shower as mediocre at best, and the furnishing has certainly seen better days. The T.V., however, has a nice picture and offers a good selection of channels. That helps.

Up and down craps session ended on a high note. Out with a profit of $90.00. Picked up a foot long from Subway, and now I'm ready for another tournament. So many choices. What to do? What to do?

Tough sledding so far. Best hand I've seen is Ace-10 off. Going into the first break with 9,300. Too bad I can't handle grapefruit juice. I need some greyhound run good.

How is the action at Monte Carlo, in your experience, particularly during the day? I'm flying out for the week and considering popping in for a session.
In my experience, Monte Carlo is good if you're looking for minimal risk exposure (but also minimum profit potential) because it's full of terrible fish who buy in ridiculously small in most cases. I will sometimes drop by if I'm with friends who prefer small stakes, or if I'm drunk and just want to have fun lagging it up.

Not sure if they still do it, but my friends and I used to regularly play the MC midnight $60 tournament after drinking, and the field was nothing but fish who had no concept of proper tourney play, ICM etc. it just turns into a shove fest because of the structure, but it's low risk, cheaper fun.

Accurate assessment.

Survived to the second break. Blinds now 400-800 with a 75 ante. I'm sitting between the two big stacks with 10 big blinds. Gotta get some cards!!

And....AQ>JJ when the villan spikes an ace on the river. Oh well. Back to the drawing board. I have $265 for those scoring at home. My buddy is still alive, so I'll probably hang around and play the 1-3 game while I sweat his action.

That sounds like the perfect drunk laggy experience. I'll keep that in mind for sure. Sometimes I really want to play, esp late night after the wife has crashed but I know I'll be playing, let's just say, less than optimally. It's fun to horse around when the structure or other players dictate it.

List was pretty deep at the Aria, so I decided head up to the room to relax for a bit. Get down to the poker room. Playing 5 handed at the moment. In for $200.

Spent most of the day at the Orleans, as we wanted to play in the Omaha8 tourney. I couldn't get anything going and was out in 15th place. (59 runners) My buddy Scott ended up finishing 7th....on the bubble. I was able to win back my buy in, plus a little more playing craps. Headed back to the Monte Carlo for drinks and dinner at the Double Barrel. The food leftvs little to be desired but the drinks were good. Just sat down for one last session. In for $220. Out for.....

Hand of the night so far....

Still at about $220. I pick up two red aces on the button and raise to seven after a couple of limpers. Villaness makes it $15 to go ($70 behind). Villan 2 raises to $70 (he covers). I smooth call, and as expected...V1 puts the remainder of her stack in. Flop comes Ace-Jack-4 rainbow. V2 bets $75 into the side pot, and I call. Turn completes the rainbow with a king of diamonds. He bets enough to put me all in. I call and we see the 3 of clubs hit the river. He announces that he has a set and rolls over pocket fours. I show my aces...much to his dismay. V2 mucks her pocket jacks face up.

set over set over set - and I'm off to a good start.

A potent combination of 'card deadness' and fatigue has taken charge, and before I give too much back, I'm going to make the prudent choice and call it a night. Out with $385. i didn't do anything extraordinary, but I consider the weekend to be a success. I had a great time and am heading home with more than I came with.

I will be back in a month for a 3 night stay at the Palazzo with my lovely wife. Here's wishing everyone a bunch of Run Good.

Final trip of the year kicks off tomorrow. Early departure should see me arrive in Vegas at around 9 am. I'll be staying at the Aria for the first time, and am looking forward to checking out the accomodations. As usual...the two days will consist of poker, sports betting, drinking and a bit of pit degeneracy.

My wife and I stayed at the Palazzo for a few days, in September. Not alot to report from that trip. Shopping....eating....obligatory afternoon downtown....'relaxing' in the room.

A few pics:

Arriving after a pain-free drive from Phoenix.

The room.

The view.

On the way to the shops.

We always have dinner at the Grand Lux on the first night. Cedar Plank BBQ Salmon.

Lunch on Wednesday.

This was delivered to the guy next to us.

Spoiler:

I couldn't resist and had to ask if I could snap a picture. To his credit...he got just about all of it eaten. BTW - it was our first time at Rollin' Smoke. We'll certainly be back.

We also had a meal at BLT, at the Mirage. Good burgers and fries. I reccommend.

All in all, a very fun trip. We played craps a couple of times and had some moderate success. I tried to explain that it doesn't always go so well....but I may have created a monster.

The trip is off to a pretty good start. I get checked in, after a brief delay out of Phoenix, and make it to the sports book just in time to get the morning wagers in. 7 players on the list at the Aria, so I decide to head over to the Monte Carlo to splash around in the 2-6 game and wait for my room to be ready. First hand, after the button passes, and I look down at A10 I call the $2 and 4 of us go to the flop. And this happens.

Spoiler:

Luckily another person flopped a flush, so I was able to get the bonus. $325 and I'm off and running.

Whew! Had to sweat out the Panthers and the Raiders. Not so lucky on the Saints Money Line. A win by the Eagles would be nice.

Un-be-fricken-lievable!!! I just hit another one.

Another $300, plus a hundred for the football promo. I'm going to put A c-note in the Megabucks machine.
