Does anyone have experience with anyone who has helped them from the basics of poker, to making money and moving up in poker? I have lots of coaching offers, just don't know which ones are worth the bill. Please help, tnx

I'd look for well reviewed coaches in the coach listings forum. Those users that advertise there and have a lot of public feedback will have a lot of experience coaching 1 on 1.

The other spot to look for coaches is in staking programs, that can be pretty expensive (like 1 on 1 coaching) since they get a % of your profits, but some really good coaches are only accessible that way.

I'd also consider video training sites. For fundamentals, it's rare that the video training sites can be beat as far as money invested vs value returned and if you change your mind/aren't a great learner/don't stay dedicated like you should, you'll be out far less than if you commit to a staking type program or 1 on 1 coaching sessions.

Before considering a poker coach...
Everyone has a different definition of basics of poker. Some might consider hand rankings from high card - royal flush as basics. While others might consider starting hands by position basic, or cbetting board texture as basic. If you're looking to learn simple/trivial knowledge I would recommend free resources over coaching / training sites because paid resources can't really teach you starting hands by position any better then a free chart with a little practice.

I definitely recommend paid sources over free. "Basics" will and can be learned so fast.

Paid is better if you value your time. I even tell students that they could learn anything i teach them on their own IF...

IF they just have enough time in life and don't mind doing every mistake.

Most of the time the saying "you get what you pay" is true.

It depends on your bankroll and the stakes you play.
But basically i would invest an affordable sum of money in a training site to get access to some videos. There are a lot of videos where you can learn for free but i would recommend paid videos they will save you good amount of time. When you are finished with your studies and played a good amount of hands i would recommend getting a coach.

The point is in 2017, having access to 10.000 videos brings you what advantage ?

You have no time to watch, the real value in the new economy and new age is the STRUCTURING of the information, the efficiency and application thereof.

The information itself is worthless economically speaking. By that i mean, you will rarely see a video and be like "OMG never heard of THAT concept before".

The difference is between knowing something and DOING it. Bull**** talks, money walks or however that saying goes.

The traditional training sites are all the same.

A lot of training sites sell courses, or have guides to show people where to begin. That's been happening for many years now. You yourself had guided video courses too. It's not like everyone just throws thousands of vids at you and says "figure it out for yourself"

Still have guided courses , in the process of developing even more.

There are many factors to consider on this subject. I'd say a lot depends on your perspective and the time/money thing seems to ring true to me.
If you have more time than money you should search for free sources and comb thru all the bs until you find a good source of free info.
If you've got more money than free time it's never too soon to get coaching.

A good coach can even help you devise a strategy for how to learn on your own. If you're looking for someone to help you come up with an overall plan for studying and improving and you really don't want to spend a lot on coaching just be open and honest w the perspective coach and I'm sure you'll find someone who can help you formulate the right plan to meet your time budget money budget and expectations.
