Teaching poker to a newbie Teaching poker to a newbie

The new boyfriend of a very close friend is a very smart guy, loaded for life, all the money in the world, has done everything in life and has been very successful. When I was introduced and told him that I do poker for a living and how I do it he went bananas, loved it, was thinking about going to vegas with me in a few days etc. He wants me to coach him, teach him from zero (he played in some private home games like a dozen times and knows the rules, but that is it) and I don t really want to do it, but I know in the end I might need to. He will not grind from low stakes for obvious reasons, but I know he is very competitive and will take this serious and spend all the time he needs to learn it.

I have played mid to high stakes for years, every format / stack size you can think of, and I know I m the right person for the job.

Problem is, I have not talked to / coached someone who knows zero about poker in a lot of years, and I have no idea where to start. How do I even know how he thinks about poker / how he plays? Do I make him read books? what books? Start with jackpot sits? 6 handed sits? Short stack cash? Is there a RIO series for an absolute beginner (or any other poker videos site)? Has anyone ever do this (maybe to a close friend / girlfriend)? Any help would be appreciated.
