Take a look at my software for use by coaches and tutors

I'm not sure if I should use my name or not so I won't.

I am a retired software developer from Asheville NC, I teach a Texas Hold'em class as an extension course at the University of North Carolina Asheville. To aid me in my class I developed a software package that has gotten some very nice feedback from my students.

In an attempt to become a part of the circle of poker trainers and tutors I'm offering this software for free to anyone that would like to use it.

I have created a series of videos that demonstrates how my program works. These videos can be downloaded at a quick and dirty web site that I created. The web site address is:

http://bcsplay.com/pokertutor/pokertutorvideos.aspx

There are 9 videos and each is about 10 min long. After looking at the first video you will know if you want to look at any of the others. These videos are .wma files and play best in Windows Media Player.

I would love to get some feedback from any and all.

Thank you.

it's a nice idea obviously, the problem is that for online poker this software is already available to anyone who uses a tracking device like holdem manager/ poker tracker etc, and since they have been competing vs each other for a while, their software is designed better and in general is more aesthetically pleasing.

your software may have use for coaches who specialise in live poker though.

This software was designed to be used in a classroom environment. Additionally it can be used as part of creating a video that describes the various courses of action.

The trainer has the ability to create the exact hand that they want to describe instead of using an actual hand as recorded by PokerTracker or any such tool.

It should be obvious that I fashioned my software to mimic the examples in the Harrington on Hold'em books.

Thank you for looking at my video(s) and giving me some feedback.

Hi also watched the video's and I agree with the poster above.

If you have HM you can also see the stats of all the players so you can make a decision on that.

What I like about the software is that you can keep hands together for each subject. That is something I miss at HM (although you can filter hands there, but not 'save' them in some kind of map).

Re: Take a look at my software for use by coaches and tutors

Thanks for taking the time to watch the videos and giving me some feedback.

I know that most of the coaches here will look at several hundred or several thousand hands that were played by their student and then look for patterns that need to be corrected. For that kind of coaching my software is useless.

I think that I'm on the other end of the spectrum. Each Monday night I walk into a room with 40 people sitting in their chairs and they want me to show them how to play poker. Many have played before and are looking to improve their game. I hook up my computer to the overhead projector and I'm off and running This is the environment that my software works the best.

I need to come up with a specific set of topics that I'm going to cover that evening. I then create the specific hands that I will use to demonstrate the topics that I cover that evening.

Again, thanks for dropping me a note.
