I’ve basically read this whole thread so figured I may as well join up and add my 2 cents.
1. The guys who claim to of been scammed, with the pooling and Omaha fund etc - are more than just naive, they are plain stupid and quite honestly got what they deserved (from a cynical standpoint of course-).
1.1 Giving out passwords to your accounts.
1.2 Continuously buying into new schemes like 'the crew' and parting with more cash etc etc
All this to a guy met online! Poker is an unregulated industry. Blind faith in Stox's allowed or looked over recommendations is just ridiculous. Take a bit of responsibility for yourselves.
This world is full of scams and scammers, ****, a lot of so called 'legitimate' businesses and practises are just that, a scam. Be vigilant, use your head just a little bit and you’re be ok, this isn’t brothers bloom **** right here. Its checkers not chess.
If your incapable of doing that, then deal with it, enjoy the ride and learn your lesson.
JasonHo doesn’t seem so bad to me at all. He got a job with stox, on false pretences seemingly, oh no, imagine that, what a terrible thing. Who the **** doesn’t get a job on false pretences? Bar maybe the one your dad hooked you up with eh. Its standard to lie, deceive and indeed do what you can to get ahead in this world, especially in the world of business.
The videos and the personal coaching.
People seem to be blasting the videos freely now, however I’ve read a few comments on here and other places that said the videos were good, even stox said the first videos were very popular, seemingly the main reason Jim gave him the job. Jim himself says that it’s good and bad, with more bad, but let’s be honest; people are more inclined to come forward with whinges and abuse than praise. It’s just the human way, or at least the web way.
The coaching: same thing stands, good and bad. And basically as others have mentioned, coaching is not cut and dry, one man’s trash is another man’s dinner. Go get yourself some one on one lessons learning a language - you could get a good one or you could just get told to go and sit at the computer and...blah blah blah. Its personal preference. If the coaching doesn’t suit you, then you dont get anymore lessons. If it does then you do. Simple stuff - which takes us back on to the band of so called victims here.
They watched videos, they wanted more, they got lessons, they liked them, they idolised their teacher, they lapped it up. So much so that many of them forked out to go to macau for 2 weeks intensive. So, nothing wrong done here by JH. He offered a service, they accepted.
Then we have to hear all these sob stories; 'ive never felt so low' 'I dont want anyone else to have to go through that, worse time of my life and all that bs'. Pick up your skirt and grab your balls FFS. Man the fk up would you? The reason for feeling so low is because you are a mug, and realisation was setting in. But still, JH did no wrong, offered a service and provided it, albeit poorly in most cases seemingly. But again I will say that there is poor service provided by many individuals and business in all markets. This doesn’t make it a scam by a long shot. Not even close.
Simple misrepresentation is not a scam imo, especially when it comes to poker.
So the remaining crew who where pooling 33% of profits, and happily doing so...JH decided it wasnt a good deal for him, fair enough, 11k split (i don’t know how many ways) - in that time is obviously not too good for anyone. But it did allow you/them to readily access JHs game even further, this obviously wasn’t off-putting enough for you (one of them) to not withdraw your life savings etc to pool up a 100k for JH to gamble with. So you put the money up of your own free will, didn’t get a contract written up, and then didn’t like it when he lost 60% of it, or all and claimed 60%, whatever the case may of been, ah well, that’s exactly what you get for letting someone you have no recourse with, gamble with your money.
The fact he started too early and played too high seems a fairly mute point to me, firstly Jim pulled out an email sent around from JH which stated the games had, could or would passively start, should of been enough for alittle further investigation from you, I mean did you guys just hand the cash over and go home with a nice warm feeling the poker hero was gonna make you rich (cause he had a fool proof cap Omaha strategy? lol). He is a poker player, who continuously tried to get money from you to play, or make money through you, use your noggin, is he gonna stick to 5-10? Maybe for the first 3 hours eh, but jezz, get a grip.
The fact is, if he ran it up to 500k, you would still be sucking his balls, he didn’t and u hate his guts. Woopdeedoo.
JH did not scam anyone, he misrepresented himself to get a job, offered a service out on the basis of his (mis) rep from the job, and then simply put out some propositions for you fools to take or leave. Should I start a thread over the FT RB who said he would give me 90% of his winnings if I gave him $10? Cause that guy scammed me worse than any of you were scammed, he took the $ and ran - basically robbery, but then again a verbal contract aint worth the paper its written on, so its just speculation on my part, as it was on yours.
Stox Poker
Ok, stox poker didn’t do too well in vetting this guy, but then again, they gave him a trial video, it performed and they ran with it. I can’t recall him telling stox he made a mill in 07 or 08 etc. It was just some hype he put out there, and why not eh, it sounds good, "past performance is not indicitive of future results" is the disclaimer stox should have up anyway, and its an obvious notion that we all should appreciate.
The fact is stox shouldn’t need to pay back any of the crews losses, as indeed they arnt, and likewise they shouldn’t need to pay back any of the lesson costs - if any, then 1 at most! But the reality is its PR, they have to do something, they have to make a gesture, so they are doing so. I agree with the guy who says they should pay the lot off, I certainly don’t think the douches deserve the money back. In fact I think JH deserves it more than them, but in terms of good PR, what’s another 100k? (or even -the 50k? JH put in?) So in that respect, that’s very weak on their part, but then again, they obviously don’t have any half savvy PR personnel to think this little one through. God forbid this ridiculous story breaks ink eh stox.
Also you guys/girls trying to ridicule JH are just a bunch of mindless sheep eh. Pulling out photos of him and jumping on the bandwagon. And the guy who said this is the worstthing hes seen, when compared to UB this doesn’t even come close, and I mean UB was 500,000x worse than this, and anyone who thinks differently is just plain deluded.
Scamming is wrong - no doubt about it - knocking on an old lady’s door and misrepresenting yourself as a Gas man, then swindling out her life savings is a disgusting act - think about it when you throw around words like disgusting for JH.
Death threats, and what did the guy say, 'im not surprised, when you push someone as far as they can go' or whatever he said, I mean come the fk off it, did he rape his mum or something? Did he even rob him? Nope, he just sold an idea (which involved gambling with their monies) and then he didnt fully stick to the plan.
I have much more respect for JH than any of his so called victims, they are as much to blame as he is in this. Ok he’s not very personable and doesn’t defend his corner at all well, but as far as the saga goes...as bad as it gets is - he played them, I can’t say if he would of negated on the deal if he won, but I’m going to guess not.
I lost 150ks worth, I lost a 100ks worth and all that bs, how ***** stupid can you be? If someone teaches you some new moves - and you go from a winning player to a losing player then revert back ffs, maybe just integrate that one thing he taught u well, is that so hard? One guy had to totally re learn poker...lol literally he is that dumb, he had to wipe his mind clean, because all that poker knowledge got jumbled up and he couldn’t spot the good from the bad anymore...CTFOI!
I feel for you stox, not a nice spot to be in. I feel for you even more JH, a horrible spot to be in.
I guess that’s what you get now though eh - with these fairy poker communities. They love a saga, they love to pick a side and they hate anything at all that’s not perfectly above board.
The guys that ousted the UB scandal are legends. That was a true disgrace indeed, but don’t try and turn this into the same thing.
I could go on but hey ho, this is too long already.
Ill leave you with a final thought, what if the crew is still together? What if they are all broke and cooked up this whole ploy to get there unified roll going again? Now that would be a good scam.
