Stopping 1-2 leaks....? Stopping 1-2 leaks....?

Anyone have any thoughts, tricks, ideas, alarms, "slight corrections" that they can recommend? I am a decent live 1-2 player and a learning on-line player. I would like to get better and I know stopping leaks are a main component to that. Recently I focused more on trying to really gauge each player and understand their playing trends and ranges. In doing so I self evaluated and I see where I lose it often. I just can't seem to fix it. I tell myself not to over value certain hands and know when to give up on a line I am trying to portray. But when I look back on a session I can see where doing those things really cost me. I understand where I am ****ing up - I just can't stop. I sound like a drug addict. I just thought maybe someone here had the magic pill...!!

1. If you are in position and your opponent check calls flop, check calls turn and then bets the river, you should probably fold a lot of the time.

2. Top pair almost never gets three streets of value. If you only have top pair on the river and you are thinking about betting, you are only getting called by better hands.

3. Three bet pre-flop in position as often as you can stomach.

4. Try not to C-bet when you miss in multi-way pots. Almost everyone is checking to you, and if they have hands they are calling or check/raising you.

5. Have a pretty small open range pre-flop in early-middle position and only open or 3 bet in late position with a much wider range of hands.

6. Don't limp in.

I think if you can do something like this, you can beat a majority of 1/2, 1/3 and 2/5 games I have played in live most of the time.

I would add to that limping can be okay if and only if you have a limp in EP by a tight opponent who doesn't limp normally who you think is likely to 3 bet you and have a great drawing hand in position i.e. 89 suited type hands. Other than that i agree that you should be raising your entire range and sizing according to dead money in the pot not your hands strength.

Lol I remember those days... what u have to do is go through your decisions in a methodical way.

- My perceived range is...
- So his range is...
- So if I bet my cards will eventually win/lose x

Think those things through for every decision and you won't be able to trick yourself into making silly plays.
