Does anyone here do coaching for basic poker math? I'm posting a separate thread because I guess I'm not looking for a traditional poker coach. I would be interested in learning some more math both for poker and in general and I need someone to help me. Thanks.

I'd start at the training sites and look for videos of guys doing the type of thing you are looking for first, then inquire from there. If you learn from someone that doesn't know what they are doing you'll only damage yourself; especially true when we are talking about mostly math and you won't have lots of context clues for it to make sense.

Aside from that, the math is basic.. what complicates it in poker is trying to build imperfect information + theory into your problems to gel with your range + equity numbers. The applied science part of it is what you want your coach to be great at and should look for, a good story problem solver ya know... not necessarily a math whiz.

hope you find someone, gl gl

Hey,

I think you are 100% right about the math being basic and it being more about putting your information into suitable models. The problem right now is that I can't even get past the basic math. I feel that to get to being a "good story problem solver" I need to get through the basic math first

WiltOnTilt's math series on DC is a great place to start. It's all beginner friendly and super easy to understand. I am allergic to math but got through it without suffering a cerebral hemorrhage.
