Please elaborate on how the poker scene has changed since 2007 that has caused so many books to become outdated. I started playing seriously only last year.

I think a lot is as much a progression in teaching as anything.
If I told you a fact in poker 5 years ago, something that can't really change (maybe how to play facing a certain type of 3bet range) it's much easier to expand on that in the future (perhaps how to face all sorts of 3bet ranges). The newer video or book or concept can be superior to the original, even if it is an expansion or extension of that concept. Another way to look at it, it's easier to improve upon something existing in a game as complex as poker, as there are always new things and perspectives and ways to teach that are superior to current methods.
I think a lot of that happens in the teaching world, whether it be books or videos (or forum posts).
Some people take it to the extreme and won't watch anything that isn't from "the last 6 months" or by "top graph players." Those guys are selling themselves short and I think their view on progression is more of a fear based one rather than a realistic one.
As far as how the games have changed, being more aggressive is probably an accurate generalization. It really depends what games you're talking about though, and a lot of this is about how many terrible players there are in the games you play, not how terrible players really are (plenty of guys in 2013 that couldn't win in 2005, even with that 8 year progression advantage). The people that win today seem to be more intelligent players (as far as strategy and theory goes). Much more deliberate, hard working and aware than those of previous years. This could be bias, but I think it is natural, a game with so much money in it for the best is going to attract higher caliber professionals over time.
I don't think any of this is worth worrying about though. Just work hard, stay disciplined and you'll give yourself the best shot at maximizing your talents in poker.
