Yeah, it was an eye-opener. I hemmorhage (sp?) money from the blinds and my win rate from the button is low. Your vids helped me realize how much more aware of "metagame" (hate that word) that I needed to be, and how much less dependent upon my hole cards.

Thanks.

Chaps,
I'm a regular PLO (cash) player, I feel comfortable with the game and understand it good enough to have a decent win rate ... however when it comes to PLO Tournament my results are not only poor but I feel very unconfortable adjusting my NL MTT strategies or PLO cash strategies.

Where will you head for some good training? CardRunners? DeucesCracked? ...?

At this point I'm not looking for a coach

Hello there , been a while since I've been on here as I stopped playing poker for a long time due to hitting what felt like a brick wall and not progressing any more ! I would like to get back into playing again though but from a different angle , last time which was also my first I just started playing and picked it up as I went and this worked for a while at least , I then started buying magazines and going onto different forums including this one and then bought a couple of books as well. Basically I was becoming stuck as to what to do next in situations online and at home games , mind was just going blank as to what cards to play what not to play how much to bet not to bet knowing tells hiding my own if any. I then started watching poker on tv again and played a few games on my phone and started thinking about getting into it again but would like to take a more disciplined approach and basically start from the beginning taking it step by step and see my own progress. I was looking for good books to start with and came accross WSOP academy which looks a pretty good place to start ( again ) think it works out around £35 for the year , looking at prices of some books its not really much difference if your buying a few books .

sorry for the length , any replies much appreciated
Danny.

Currently a member of bluefirepoker and deucescracked. Love what I've seen so far but I wonder if someone could best guide me for my needs in order to use my time wisely and head in the right direction. Which videos should I watch/study if my plan is to build my roll playing live 1/2 NL. I am planning to put in like 30 hours a week at this stakes... Any guidance?

Check out Poker Made Simple by Ed Miller Stox Poker.

I also have How To Master Full Ring by CodeRedRulz, anyone tell me what that is like? I have yet to watch it.

Also look out for stuff by Pokey. Anyone else help nano-stake grinders out here? I've no doubt missed important material.

I don't think there is any way to still watch "Poker Made Simple". Do you know of a way?

i'd say a kind of catch-all beginners type series covering fundamentals, approach, good habits, mindstate, a lot of broad topics etc. would be what you're after then? , try the 'real life micro grinder' or 'coaching kristy' series on deucescracked

live 1/2 NL will be mostly fullring i guess then, so I'd check out newmanmi's FR vids on DC, and the FR vids Dr Giggy has on BFP

there's also some great micro content by blackrain79 on dragthebar.com, i haven't seen any coach ever cover nanostakes in such detail. the volume he's put in at micros is absurd:

What stakes videos should you be watching relative to what you are playing? For instance I am playing 10NL currently, so would it be wrong to watch videos from 25NL/50NL because the concepts would not apply even though they are considered micro stakes also?

just learn everything even up to the highest stakes. I wouldnt even learn from coaches who are only beating micro stakes up to 50NL or whatever. You'll learn a style which is only suitable for micros and it will cost you a lot later to learn playing at higher stakes and to stop your bad habits.
Just learn from the best players aplly the concepts adapt to your stakes etc.
Micros are the place to learn not to develop a strategy which is best for beating some micro fish.
I would rather have 1bb less winrate at the micros and instead prepare myself for higher stakes.
For example just look at this coach here who beats 2Nl and 5NL nicely and then is breakeven at 25Nl lol.
Samoleus said it in one of his vids, learn how to play poker at the micros don't develop a super micro strategy which is only for crushing micros, prepare yourself and learn for higher limits etc.

Thank you, this is very interesting. I had always thought that trying to apply thought processes from even SSNL games to uNL was unwise as opponents are thinking on shallower levels or is it a case of the concepts being the same and simply the application varying on the opponent, if that makes sense?

If you play on Stars there isn't even much difference in 10Nl-50NL nowadays i would say. Regs are mostly decent, at lower levels you can find more fish of course but other than that not that big of a deal.
Players are getting a lot better, so what was right for 100NL maybe like 1year ago might be applicable to 10NL nowadays, games are changing fast.
Gameplay from 400NL 1-2 years ago might be on the level of 50NL players today or something like this. Game is changing so fast that you cant really say this strategy is only applicable to these stakes, but you should understand WHY a coach is doing a certain move and then make your thoughts and apply to your stakes if you have to.
Of course learning from a 10kNL Galfond video might be a bit overkill if you play 10NL, the regulars he plays against are much more advanced and there are too many read and level-wars involved because he's playing in an "rich information environment" while we at Small stackes usually play in "poor information environment". But learning and watching vids up to ~400NL doesnt hurt your game in the micros i would say, rather the opposite.
