If you actually read their reviews they appear to be pretty dead on. Rankings could of course be based on someone's specific preference so that's subjective. Read some of the reviews & they appear to be pretty on from what I can see. You see both the pro's & cons of a site. Can someone site something specifically they see wrong with the review site?

Can you site somewhere where their reviews are inaccurate? I use this site as I belong to several training site (though I might bounce around) & for the most part they appear pretty much on. In many cases on some sites they even go instructor by instructor in reporting on the quality of vids & you can see some instructors getting praised & others getting slammed.

It has "reviews" that are comprised of 1 sentence long statements. At least at the other review site you get to read about the specific instructors & their vids in detail. If I'm going to plunk down my cash for a training site I want to know as much as I can before I put my $$ down.

and a nice referral link at the bottom, too, though I'm not sure what makes you so confident they're not getting paid also.

I'm not saying these sites are completely devoid of useful information, I'm just saying you're getting advice from places that have self-interests that influence what's being presented to users. One of the nice things about the training site discussion here is that you can get the opinion of the users who have no self-interest about the debate except what actually helps them improve.

I can second what Trev said about PokerCurious. I have worked with Bill and he has never mentioned an affiliate program of any kind. The information on PC is completely honest as far as I know.

Their top ranked site is bluefire, and in their review of it is a link that says ">>>>>>> Sign Up at the Best Poker Training Site - Bluefire Poker <<<<<<<". I would be very surprised if bluefire did not pay for that link (and that link's wording), but it seems in context like it's pokertrainingguide saying "join the best site!" as if that's the review talking and not the paid advertisement. The PTG-written introduction to HUSNG.com (which I love, by the way) is "If you play or want to play heads up sit and goes, then a subscription here is a must.", which is ridiculous. It's pretty much all the same.

On the page it discloses that they receive money from CR/Stox, when you read the reviews there's often a "Put in PokerCurious as your promo code." message. I'm not saying this is evil or anything, you have to have a viable business model and this is pretty much the only way of doing it, I'm just saying that if CR/Stox's quality declined, I have a hard time believing a site like PokerCurious that's funded by CR/Stox would start disparaging them.

I can't say with 100% certainty on the affiliate thing. I did notice all the sites he has referral codes for, so I don't see any reason for biased reviews because of that. I will say of all sites, his is the most accurate. I simply directed players to this site because it's the most honest , accurate, and allows you to compare the sites and what they offer. I will try to get the owner of the site to reply in this thread to follow up on that though.

I also want to say that the best source is this thread. If you have any questions about any sites, others will be glad to answer them. These training site reviews should be used as a "guide" to simply show what they offer.

i think a really good source would be talking to folks who are already members of the sites, no? those people are paying money and have an opinion about what they're getting for it. it seems like other sites will always have some kind of angle that might impugn their impartiality.

I don't really put any credence to the ratings but if you read the reviews, like I said they are pretty in depth compared to the other site listed. I got a lot of respect for them after I read their review on SNGIcons which was pretty honest. After that I've used them pretty much for all the sites I've been interested in joining. I think it's the best site for reviews out there.

Do any sites offer 7 day free trial or anything to test them out, I'm a microstakes player, 5/10 blinds and $5 SnGs, which site would be best to improve my overall ability?

Also no one has mentioned pokerVT, I've seen adds for it around and about.

Of course these sites rely on affiliate and advertising revenue, if not whats the point of having them up. I also agree that this forum section is a great source of info for training sites. But when you attack the legitamacy of my site (pokertrainingguide) I do have a problem with. Check out the rankings and tell me where I have been biased in the results. I think its a very good representation though I'm always welcome to comments and suggestions.
