Hey guys, first post on here after lurking for a while.
I'm a fairly solid MTT player with an 18% ITM and the ability to run deep, but...
I'm currently stuck, my bank roll has been lingering between $600-1000 and I'm just up and down between those two figures for the past few months.
I'm yet to take down a decent MTT, i've won a few MTTSNGs and finished in spots like 5th, 7th, 4th in a few MTTs for between $200-600$ in that time but I'm just struggling to tighten up the leaks in my game.
Here are the leaks from my perspective...
BRM - I'm currently playing between 3-7% of my bankroll in each tournament, which could possibly explain the swings? Shall I persist with this number and hold out for the variance gods to finally visit me, or should I play smaller?
Tilt - I'm known to have a bad beat and just enter multiple tournaments out of frustration and wanting to win one so bad, to the point where I don't even realise I'm doing it, I'm hoping this'll go when I pop my MTT cherry.
Deep play - I tighten up a lot when deep, and I know i'm doing it, but I feel more anxious making profitable plays that are risky when I'm deep as opposed to early/middle stages, I always think to myself "wait for a better spot". Could this be to blame for my inability to ship a tourney?
Tournament choice - I have very little qualifications when it comes to tournament choice, the factors I usually are consider are literally just buy in and prize pool, i.e. why play a 82$ 35k gtd booty, when there's a similar 16.50 one? Is this bad? Should I be choosing my tournaments more carefully?
Impulsive - I'm a calculated player the MAJORITY of the time, however sometimes I just have sudden flashes of impulse and do dumb ****, is this something all beginning serious players have to learn to deal with, or am I just a noob?
Finally, I do want to make a living out of poker, I believe with the right advice I can be a very good player, I'm just yet to realise my potential, so, what advice would you give a fairly confident player who wants to play poker full time for a while? Note; I'm fairly young with little to no responsibilities, I want to spend a few years of my life seeing what I can do with poker, so save the get a real job advice for now
Thanks!
