Cole South Appreciation

Now I've never been one to be all over Cole's balls like so many of you here, that is until now. I just watched the latest CTS 8 video and I just had an epiphany, CTS is god. I'm serious, goddamn that was great.

Let me explain. Usually when instructors post a six table video and trying to explain their thoughts, it becomes a total trainwreck. I loved how CTS decided to record his voice afterwards and pausing the video where deeper insight was needed. As well, having six tables made for a lot of interesting spots and the video was paused frequently, loved loved it.

On one hand he explained why he thought about squeezing with a Q7s against two aggressive players. He paused the video and opened up a wordpad document with lots of notes and pokerstove explaining the equity behind the play. This brought tears to my eyes. It's like watching poetry on
your computer monitor.

The amount of preparation and thought that Cole puts into his videos is amazing. You can tell he's really passionate about teaching and really want you to be a better player. Often times you fire up a cardrunners video and it really feels like some instructors are doing it just to fullfill their contract of a video a month etc..etc.. Not so, with superhero Cole South.

CTS's videos are almost on a whole different level. I hope this is the format going forward with many cardrunners videos. Recording voices afterwards and
with preparation before making each vid.

Watching the greatness of a CTS video and then watching any other video for an hour is like (can't remember who said this) having your balls stapled to your face.

For a long time I never really thought about signing up with cardrunners because I was already a winning player, but now I must say I'm a very very happy cardrunners member. What a fantastic product. Cole, you are a fine piece of work, a real fine man.

It's all relative. In fairness I haven't seen all the vids from every instructor. I usually only watch 6max midstakes/highstakes NL vids and PLO vids so I can't compare to the other pros. I don't know how much a small/microstakes player would get out of watching a CTS vid. I think the best vids are videos made by players who play their usual limits. Someone like leatherass from Stoxpoker for example, when he makes small stakes NL videos you know that he knows the players on the table because that's the stakes he played a year ago.

I'm not saying CTS is the best, I haven't seen enough from the others yet. But from what I've seen I reallly like. I also really like Taylor's vids. It's like they really want you to learn.

Re: Cole South Appreciation

the great thing about poker is that there are different styles that work for different people. cole is almost certainly the best (NLHE) poker player at CR, i can say that pretty confidently. he's also one of the best (if not the best) at articulating his thoughts. however, his style will not be optimal for everyone. someone who plays more of a TAGish game like Brian T might resonate more with some players. there are lots of great instructors at CR, cole is certainly one of them. I'm very proud to be part of the website with such great poker minds. I'm also very happy we have been able to help you guys!

Heh heh, I don't work for Cardrunners marketing. I'm glad my enthusiam got you to sign up though, I'm positive you will find it very helpful to your game. I know it's helped my game imensely.
I just had commend Cole on doing such a great job, felt it needed to be mentioned especially when he puts extra thought and preparation into every video he puts out. He could very easily just fire up some tables and shoot a video for 30 mins with no thought or direction of what he wants to do and call it a video and collect his royalties, but not Cole.
Cardrunners have been taking a lot of heat lately from the fulltilt sponsership etc. that we forget sometimes that they are still putting out a real great product.
I can positively say that cardrunners has helped me more than any books or dvds, magazines etc ever did with my game.

Re: Cole South Appreciation

Cole is simply the best poker player on the planet. Ivey doesn't have **** on him

/end nvg.

One of the things I love so much about Cole is how he does the math behind his bluffs rather than approaching them with perfect singularity as lots of poker players do. I wish more of the instructors would do this.

Yeah, CTS appreciation indeed. He's so insanely sick. It would be really nice if he made videos with greater frequency.
